Sometimes, information is presented in the form of a pie chart because that is an easy way to visualize fractions. Most of us have, at some point in our lives, had to share a pie with some other person or people. We therefore have a concrete understanding of what it means to divide a pie into three sections. So metaphorically, we can visualize anything as a pie. We might use a pie chart to show how your tax dollars are spent. This slice is for national defense, this slice is for medicare, this slice is for interest payments on the national debt, and so forth. When we talk about interpreting pie charts, we simply mean looking at a pie chart and understanding what it means. We see that the US is spending quite a lot of its available money on interest payments. We see how big the slice is, of that particular pie. Perhaps this will tell us something about why it is not a good idea to be massively in debt.

A histogram graph displays continuous data. The data is displayed in ordered columns. Example of data that can shown by a histogram graph is time, inches, and temperature.

A line graph displays a set of data using line segments. Line graphs are used to show how a factor changes over a period of time.

If you do it correctly, a graph can be a very accurate means of representing data, and you are free to use graphs for any kind of information that you wish to depict in a visual form. It is very versatile tool.

One would properly use a pry bar by inserting the flattened edge as leverage against something. A pry bar is used for "prying" something open, or away from itself.

The difference is that there is no y axis on a line plot. The letter X is used to represent one of that number. For example, if there where 2 people that had two pets, there would be two Xs above the number 2. A bar graph uses the scale on the y axis to tell you the amount, instead of Xs. I hope this helps!

An example would be a car showroom, where a bar graph may show yearly sales split into months. Assuming that 55 cars were sold in May, then the May column would be filled in with colour up to the level marking 55. Anyone looking at the bar graph would instantly see that 55 cars were sold in May. And the same goes for all the other months.

There are a wide variety of websites that offer free worksheets to educators on a variety of topics. Look for one that is math focused. It can also be very easy to make your own if you find an idea you like and if it isn't perfect, just adapt it!

The blue segments on graphs can mean any number of things based on how the graph is setup. They can mean the number of people who visit a place or the amount of money collected.
