They seem to average 3 to 5 years for males (though I've heard of as long as 9), and 2 to 4 years for females. The hen's lifespan depends a lot on how much she has had to lay eggs and whether she has had adequate nutrition to keep her from "depleting" her body's resources. Protein, calcium and vitamin D are essential for female button longevity. Of course, any button who lives in a stressful environment, or gets injured seriously or repeatedly, is going to have a shorter life-expectancy.

Yes, some of quails is able to inflate the neck and coo. The most noticeable example is Button quail. Their coo is soft and whispering.

There are 3 species of ptarmigan, all change to white in winter in most populations, but not all.

if your using a real incubator, you just fill up the moisture rings. if its still too low, place a bowl of warm water beside the eggs

well a grouse is a type of bird so snow grouse is a snow bird the look the pheasants but they are white

yes a baby quail does need its mother for warmth it is very hard to raie baby quails with out their mother
