Do seagulls go to the sea to die?

No they always go to sea but not to die maybe way way way out but not in shallow water . seagulls stay relatively close to land and yes they do seem to go out to sea perhaps not to die they may just be following the fishing boats in search of easy feeding but none the less they do die when too far out. I have personally seen dead birds on the waters of the Atlantic further out than you would think a gull would travel, so i believe yes they go out and die but maybe not to die. The only time I have seen a dead gull on land is when its killed usually by a human who feeds it rice just to see what will happen. Its a subject that is worthy of study sort of like How does the earth move about the sun there's no good answer only a lot of speculation just be happy it does; this goes for the gulls as well because they are a diseased and filthy avian species be happy they die out in the ocean because if your pets were to feast on the dead corpse it would bring home the illness to you and yours.

How do seagulls know when a field is being ploughed?

Like many birds, gulls rely on their excellent vision in order to find food. Usually, they will survey an area while soaring, and upon spotting a food item, they will swoop down and grab it.

The way gulls actually obtain their food after finding it varies. For the most part, they are scavengers and will pick up whatever's lying around (fish, sea creatures, bread, garbage, or carrion). Many times, they will directly steal food from other birds or animals. Sometimes, however, they will catch their own food by snatching fish from the ocean or snapping up insects.

Is it ok to feed seagulls bread every day?

I am wondering the same thing. I have fed them twice a week for the past two weeks. And once a week it would be several to alot of seagulls and the other time only one or two seagulls. Before these past two weeks I was feeding them every other day but I noticed there was a dead one a couple

Miles of the road and was wondering if it was from a digestion problem or a starvation problem. I thought that not feeding them in patterns of two days then skipping a day then back to two days no and etc. Would be good since feeding them too

Much I thought gave them a problem with flying they would start fluttering high up in the air. I live pretty close to the bay (bay area) in the peninsula. So I thought they would go help themselves to water. I live like 4 blocks away from target (where I feed them) so alot of times 4-5 seagulls would fly High above my house and I Feed them if they fly close enough. At target it's usually 40-60 seagulls. But once there was 150 seagulls lol. I only had enough for 50 since I buy 4 loafs of wheat sandwich bread. I'm only one person with two hands !

How can seagulls digest fish bones?

Aquatic birds have three chambers in its stomach. The first, the proventriculus chamber, secretes gastric juice. The second, the gizzard, has two sets of muscles opposing each other, and this serves as a filter for bones, fur, feathers, and other non-edible items that come from its prey. The third, exclusive to aquatic birds, is filled with feathers and is used to filter out fish bones. The filtered items (bone, fur, feathers, etc.) are made into pellets, similar to owl pellets.

Can seagulls sit in trees?

Does anyone know? I really need to know!

I was in the city at 1am this morning (until about 3am) and there were seagulls still up partying.

When and where do they sleep, if they ever do? I've never seen a sleeping seagull.

Seagulls seem to 'nest' at night only when they are actually nesting to raise young. The rest of the time (the greater part of the year) they sleep out in the open where they feel safest - inland this could be parkland, even car parks, apparently, and of course out at sea where they just 'sit' on the water in large flocks. Your nocturnal 'partying' gulls were probably just opportunists, feeding off the kebab scraps dropped by their human fellow-partygoers... when the human nightlife subsided, probably so did they! Here in South Devon, UK, at sunset we observe flocks of gulls coming from all around, gathering above this one particular valley and then, altogether, heading off out to sea, presumably to sleep on the water. Apparently birds don't 'sleep' in the normal sense; they nap, maybe even keeping one part of their brain active and alert to watch for predators while the other part rests. I've observed this in our own pet parrot! So the answer is 'Yes - they do sleep but not always when or where we would expect more familiar birds to roost.'
