How fast can black backed seagulls fly?
it can go up to 2,200 mph ! its a war jet and when a missile gets shot at it, it simply just out speeds the missile! Lol! :) it also set the world record for the fastest plane/ jet on Earth!
falcons do not eat crows it is unnatural for a falcon to eat a crow which they don't
How far can a seagull fly in one day?
Domestic or wild species? Wild species - all except flightless teal from the S hemisphere can fly. Domestics - most breeds can fly at least a little, particularly when young. As a guide, the bigger the breed, the poorer the flight - really large breeds such as Aylesbury's, Rouens etc. can't fly at all.
No. No birds have true teeth, just an appendage on the beak called an egg tooth. Some species like mergansers have serrated sides to the bill, but not true teeth. The egg tooth falls away soon after the bird hatches.
What do seagulls naturally eat?
There are lesser black backed gulls nesting on the roof where I work in Belfast - they nest here every year. Parents are feeding them what looks like regurgitated fish and scraps that they find around the town. I have been throwing sardines in sunflower oil and cod roe (removed from tins obviously) which the chicks love, they are now huge and about 2-3 weeks old.
Seagulls eat fishes and clams.
How do you look after a pet seagull chick?
Your best option is to notify a rescue or wildlife organization about the seagull and otherwise leave the poor bird alone. Part of being a wild animal is that when you get injured, you either survive or die - that is the rule of nature. Humans interfere sometimes, particularly with endangered species or when the damage is obviously caused by humans (such as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill). Otherwise, you risk being hurt yourself and hurting or killing the seagull by trying to take care of it yourself.
In a form. They do not urinate as humans do, instead, the "poop" contains both feces and urine.
What is the conflict of Jonathan livingston seagull?
The book tells the story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a seagull who is bored with the daily squabbles over food. Seized by a passion for flight, he pushes himself, learning everything he can about flying, until finally his unwillingness to conform results in his expulsion from his flock. An outcast, he continues to learn, becoming increasingly pleased with his abilities as he leads an idyllic life.
One day, Jonathan is met by two gulls who take him to a "higher plane of existence" in that there is no heaven but a better world found through perfection of knowledge, where he meets other gulls who love to fly. He discovers that his sheer tenacity and desire to learn make him "pretty well a one-in-a-million bird." In this new place, Jonathan befriends the wisest gull, Chiang, who takes him beyond his previous learning, teaching him how to move instantaneously to anywhere else in the Universe. The secret, Chiang says, is to "begin by knowing that you have already arrived." Not satisfied with his new life, Jonathan returns to Earth to find others like him, to bring them his learning and to spread his love for flight. His mission is successful, gathering around him others who have been outlawed for not conforming. Ultimately, the very first of his students, Fletcher Lynd Seagull, becomes a teacher in his own right and Jonathan leaves to teach other flocks.
Why do you think seagulls can't perch on trees?
Why seagulls cant perch on trees, Well I've never seen a tree growing in the middle of an ocean.
Skuas.Skuas are large gull like birds actually related more to jaegers than gulls. They live mostly in the north Atlantic, but can be found almost anywhere over the oceans of the world. They are almost hawk-like in their predatory assaults on seabird nesting colonies, often swooping down to panic the prey into flight, then catching them on the wing!
Although the Peregrine Falcon gets all the publicity for being the fastest living animal on earth, all the large falcons have the ability to exceed 250 MPH in a long stoop from high altitudes. These include the Gyrfalcon, Prairie Falcon, and all the now sought after hybrids of these individual species. Gravity favors a heavier bird such as a Gyrfalcon, (being the largest), but also the hardest/tightest feathered bird (being the peregrine) which has less drag at high speeds. Now, in a straight line flight with no angel of attack, a Gyrfalcon can regularly out pull a Peregrine, and out distance one too with it's more powerfull build. So for a combined speed average, probably the Gyrfalcon is the fastest.
I think there are 2 possible answers:
1. the sound the seagulls make bounce off the sea making it un-noticebely echo.
2. They have to be loud because of the loudness scale of the wind and/or waves. If they were quiet then they couldn't hear each other is there was danger or if they had to call someone.
Do seagulls get poisoned when eating garbage at landfills?
haven't seen it yet, but they do eat cardboard (fries container), i tried feeding them the portions with ketchup on it first, and then when i ran out of the ketchup portions, i tried tossing the rest ripped to small pieces and they ate it all.
kind of make sense since cardboard is wood/plant based.
And I have seen lots of them at the garbage dump eating.
I was told that they eat carpet too, (but don't know for sure, haven't seen it).
Do seagulls eat small turtles?
Answer 1:
No they don't; crabs can't fit in their beak.
Answer 2:
Some crabs may be too large to fit in the beak of a smaller gull but most gulls do consume crabs. Gulls also eat fish and carrion.
Can you blow up a seagull with alka seltzer?
No, they do not. It is an urban legend based on the fact that seagulls cannot release gases, thus their stomachs will explode. However, this is false as they regurgitate to feed their young.
Okay, the person why typed that has never tried it.
I have a aunt and uncle who were in the marines and sea gull infestation was a problem. People on the ship would sometimes used alka seltzer to horde them off. It does in fact make them explode from in inside out. Please don't try it, its a very painful death.
__________
The above about exploding seagulls is false. Here's a quick physics lesson to help illustrate the point.
Even if a seagull ate 5 Alka-Seltzers, most likely they'd regurgitate it since it doesn't taste good; but let's assume you wrapped a piece of bread around it, got the gull to eat it, their digestive system is similar to ours in that, they have an OPENING at the mouth, and an OPENING at the end/rear; neither of these OPENINGS are sealed, corked or in any way able to self-contain pressure built up inside the stomach.
The gull would simply burp/regurgitate the tablets or expel (fart) out the gas produced. It is impossible to blow up a gull (or any other animal) using Alka-Seltzer, it's an urban legend, 100%, go to Snopes.com and see.
Here is an excerpt from someone who attempted to blow up a gull....
A friend of mine who lives in Corpus Christi tried to feed Alka-Seltzer to seagulls a few years ago (in the name of science.) My friend reported that the gulls did not want to eat the plain tablets (I would think that, to a bird, they look like flat little rocks,) so my friend wrapped the Alka-Seltzer in Wonder Bread and glommed the bread down tightly around the tabs. The gulls grabbed the bread-wrapped tablets, gulped them down, and a moment later, barfed them up again. No explosions, unless vomiting counts as an explosion. Considering how easy it is to concoct a Photoshopped fake, I would be very skeptical of any images that claim to show a seagull bursting from effervescent antacid intake.
