Hades (Pluto)

Hades is known to be dark, brooding, stern, morbid, sometimes depressing, but always just. And he is very loving and passionate toward his wife Persephone.

Hades was often feared by the living mortals. But when he was worshiped people would pray to him while banging their heads on the ground to be sure he could hear him. People would also sometimes sacrifice black animals to him.

Hades was actually very altruistic and passive

He did not go to Hades, he summoned the ghosts of Hades to earth to speak to the blind seer Teiresias, who could foretell what would happen to him on his journey.

He kept it, except when he lent it to Perseus.

Thanatos was not the god of death, he was Death in person.

I personally find Hades to be very admirable. Not everyone could do what he does day in and day out, to provide that sort of service to mortals and their souls.

Not everyone views/viewed him as such, most ancient Greeks had a tendency to fear Hades. They would do their best to not do something that might draw his attention.

They didn't but they were brothers so it doesn't really matter.

Hades the person looked like a normal person only perfectly beautiful as all gods did. Hollywood may try to make him ugly cause he is the god of the underworld but that does not change the fact that he is a son of Cronus and is perfect in every way.

Hades and Persephone inflicted Thebes with a deadly plague, probably as punishment for King Kreon's refusal to allow the burial of the dead warriors of the army of the Seven Against Thebes. When the maiden Koronides sacrificed themselves to appease the gods, they were pitied and transformed into a pair of comets.

All those who die are his, so he is sometimes called greedy for the ghosts of the dead.

In myth, it varies, either it was his birthright as the eldest son; or he won that realm in a game of chance (lots, or dice) between his brothers.

ive found that the sceptra and the cornucopia are symbols for him which is odd cuz the cornucopia is like a thanks giving thing His symbols were a helmet made of dogskin (called the Helmet of Darkness, that made the wearer invisible), and his 3 headed doggy Cerberus. In Roman times He is also associated with money and silver and being rich.

Hades' father and mother are Cronus (Kronus) and Rhea.
His brothers are Zeus and Poseidon.
His sisters are Demeter, Hestia, and Hera.

The most well known symbols of Hades is Cerberus, the three headed hound, and the Helm of Darkness.

Hades's realm was the underworld, hundreds of feet under the ground, where he ruled the dead in darkness of the and on a throne made out of human bones. Sometimes he ruled with Queen Persephone at his side during the Winter.
