I think Hades was fair, as he allowed Orpheus to bring Eurydice back to the land of the living. Personally, I don't think Hades does that for every person he meets. It was Orpheus's fault for turning back.

There are different versions of how they met. I've heard at least 2 different ones One was: Hades was roaming the Earth on his chariot when Aphrodite and her friend Cupid were playing around. When a stray arrow accidentally hit Hades making him fall in love with the first woman he saw. That just so happened to be Persephone. He then proceeded to make her his wife by kidanpping her and taking her back to the underworld. Second was: Hades saw Persephone frolicking in a field of flowers one day and instantly fell in love with her beauty and grace. Fearing that he would have no chance at winning her heart. He decided to kidnap her and profess his love to her.

Hades doesn't kill Gods. And he would rarely personally kill mortals unless they crossed him. He is the God of the Dead, and Lord of the Underworld, not some ruthless bloodthirsty creature. He is actually very just.
