Hades does not want to always be the bad guy in every situation that comes up, like in Percy Jackson and the olympions book one, they just assumed Hades took Zues's lightening bolt. When they found Hades he was missing his Helm of Darkness. He did not mention this to everyone like Zues, because he was afraid of someone finding out about his weakened state.

-No. Hades is not evil. He was just the Greek god of the Underworld. He most certainly was not evil. He was solemn and gloomy, definitely, but wouldn't you be if your wife was forced to be with you part of the year & you lived amongst dead people? I would be. It was part of the job description to be dark if you ruled the Underworld.
