Hajj

Hajj is a tradition established by Hazrat Abraham (Ibraheem in Arabic) as per command of Almighty Allah Karim. He built Ka'abah and announced to the people (all humans -born or yet to born) Miraculously his voice echoed through the universe- even the heavens above. All the Souls, yet to born, who answered to the call saying: Labbaik Allah Humma Labbaik… Here I come, O my Allah, Here I present myself to you… are destined to perform Hajj. It is obligatory on each Muslim once in lifetime.

Hajj is performed during the last month of the Islamic calendar. The schedule is as under or this is how Hajj is performed in different stages: All these rituals teach unconditional obedience to Allah Almighty. They teach equality, simplicity, sacrifice, tolerance and charity etc. Itwas renewed by the last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). Only the Muslim Ummah performs Hajj which is obligatory on each Muslim once in lifetime provided he/she can afford.

It depends on what kind of disability and also on the will of the disabled. It depends on whether the disabled could do Hajj on his/her own or with support of other companions. The Islamic rule is that you are forgiven from performing hajj if you could not afford physically performing it.

Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) performed one and only hajj in the 10th Year of Hijra.It was the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) first and last Hajj.He performed four UMRAH's in his whole life.

Hajj is a kind of worship. The Muslims perform Hajj. It has nothing to do anything with soldiering or fighting. It is Jihad in which armed men take part, not Hajj.

1. Tawaf and Saee are performed on foot. In case of in-ability, it can be done on wheel chair.

2. Going to Mina by bus or on foot.

4. Going to Arafat by bus or on foot.

Coming back by any means of travel. Only Tawaf and Saee are performed in the Ka'aba and on foot.

The Hajj takes place in and near Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Makkah is less than an hour's drive from Jeddah, a modern city of about three million, located on the east bank of the Red Sea.

Pilgrims travel to Makkah in several ways: by air, by sea, by land (bus, taxi, car.) The Saudi government is building a rail system linking the major cities in Saudi Arabia, so it will soon be possible for pilgrims to take the train to Jeddah, as well.

Hajj teaches us human brother-hood. It also teaches to worship only Allah Almighty. It teaches sacrifice and equality of all humans. It teaches honesty, chastity and love of other Muslims.

It also teaches unity, equality and striving to do good deeds.

Hajj is a spiritual journey and hence it touches the very core of the human soul. Spending the night in the mountains of Mina and Arafat and performing all the Hajj rituals serves are a great way to revitalize the Muslim faith and Taqwa.

Hajj is performed during the last month of the Islamic calendar. The schedule is as under:

1. 8th of Zilhajja: Taking bath, putting up Ahraam (two sheets of cloth), going to Haram i Pak, making intention of performing Hajj, offering two Nawafil and reaching the field of Mina before Zuhar Prayer and staying there.

2. 9th. Offering Fjr Prayer and reaching the field of Arafat (the main ritual of Hajj). Stayin there till sunset, offering Prayers and parying to Almighty Allah Karim. Leaving the field of Arafat just at sunset without offering Evening Prayer. Coming to Muzdalfa at night offering Maghrib and Isha Prayers together. Staying there at nihght.

3. 10th (Eid day) Offering Fajar Prayer and leaving Muzdalfa at sunrise. Stoning the Big Jamrah (Shaian), offering animal sacrifice, coming to Haram i - Pak, going around the Ka'abah, performing Saee (Walking/running betwen Safa and Marwa), shaving of head (men) and putting off Ahram. Going back to Mina and staying there.

4. 11th. Stoning the three Jamraat and staying at Mina.

5. 12th. Stoning the three Jamraat and coming back to Makka before sunset.

The Hajj need not be followed if you have insufficient means to perform it. As a result, unlike the other four pillars, it can be abrogated and is, therefore, less important.

Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) left his wife Hazrat Hajirah (AS) and baby Hazrat Ismaiel (AS) in the desrted place where now stands Ka'abah. It was Hazrat Hajirah (AS) who ran between Safa and Marwah in search of water.
