Do people who only eat halal meat eat chicken and beef?

"Halal" is a method of slaughter - one has to a say prayer thanking God before you slit the neck of the animal and as much blood as possible has to flow out of the animal. In fact the animal takes several minutes to die and during that time the struggles of the animal forces the blood out. This contrasts the "jutkka" method of slaughter which the followers of "Sikhism" use and this requires one clean cut when slaughtering and the animal should not suffer. So to answer your question directly people of that particular religion can eat chicken or beef as long as the animal is slaughtered according to the "halal" method.

Is mortgage halal?

A mortgage is NOT halal. A Mortgage is usually referred to a loan where a security is provided, normally in the UK, the term is used when a loan is used to buy a property. There are halal alternatives, referred to by the Financial Services Authority as simply alternative 'Home Purchase Plans' (HPP). Many (wrongly), call these products halal mortgages or Islamic mortgages and has also slowly become a common term. HPPs are different in that the providers do not give a loan against a property, instead, they jointly purchase the property with you and 'let' their share to you. In a similar manner that you may pay interest on outstanding capital in a conventional mortgage, in the Home Purchase Plan you would only pay rent on the banks share of the property or 'outstanding shares' we as the buyer still want to purchase. You can contact me at One Option Finance for further information if you wish but I hope the above answers your question. Muslims believe it be a grave sin to indulge any forms of usury/interest which only creates an unequal distribution of wealth in society (a one way traffic where money only goes to the ones already rich at the expense of the poor/needier who need financial assistance). Instead, Muslims are encouraged to share in the risk of any underlying investment by acting not as lenders but investors in the property.

Is Food with E-codes Halal?

E-numbers provide a simple, concise means of identifying food additives. Most food additives are suitable for Halal foods. Some additives are derived from sources that make them unsuitable. It is not possible to state whether a food is Halal based the presence or absence of e-numbers on a label. The only way to be certain a food is Halal is to check for the certification symbol on the label.

Is gelatine halal?

Both "Yes" and "No"

Those who take religion too far can make anything haram. The ingredients that are used to make the gelatin are from either beef or pork, however the molecules undergo many changes from the "pork" state, to the gelatin that you get. The enzymes are there to accelerate the change process and don't really exist after the process is complete. So it all depends on how you see it. There is no pork meat in it. They're the enzymes that can be found in any animal, but pork has plenty of it and that's what the U.S usually uses.

I tried being clear to you. I'm Muslim-Shiaa and this is a really confusing topic where even religious people are unsure. They never said its haram, they just said "You're better off if you didn't eat it." Its not like you're slaying a pig and cooking it.

Is British Airways Food Halal?

In talking with an employee, I got the following response:

As a employee, the issue of halal meat on catering services onboard BA flights, will remain exactly that, an 'issue' as the verification is not possible at the time of flight. This is because BA buys its meats from more than one supplier, but one supplier is a Halal supplier, a possible German company. But on particular flights this meat is used on is not verifiable. Though most flights are most probably are halal, as this is the main supplier, but only outbound from LHR. There again, the supplier used for that particular service maybe different, and there is no verification of halal meat onboard. Those concerned should book a Muslim/vegiterian meal, this is confirmed halal meat, as the catering supplier, at London have a separate Halal kitchen. So in brief, its still not verified, but i hope you can understand why the airline can not verify that meat onboard is halal. As the supplier for that service is not known, but further down the chain it could be verified. But then this causes further problems from airline business point of view.
