Harps are not the most difficult instrument. However, many consider it the most difficult difficult (or at least, an extremely difficult) instrument to play for a number of reasons. First, the technique of plucking a string, and especially from going to hand-to-hand or even just switching fingers is a very exact process. Piano is similar in this respect which makes it just as difficult if not moreso. The other main reason is that slipping up on technique in a small way, or even just sitting at the harp wrong, can cause major physical problems. As most kids can mess up on their instrument and be ok, you have to be absolutely perfect on the harp or you will get injured. Harpists have the #1 amount of injuries among musicians!
