Harrison Ford was in a few movies before he became a huge film star. For example American Graffiti was one of his first, but then he was forgotten until he was working on a set (in carpentry) and George Lucas was casting for actors to appear in Star-Wars. George knew Harrison from American Graffiti (for that was one of his first films he created) and called him over as the guy who was going to be cast for Han Solo didn't show up. Harrison read the lines and George Lucas thought he was perfect for the part. So yeah... i guess you could say he was a carpenter befpre he got into show business...

I believe that George Lucus suggested that Ford play Hans Solo after working with him on "American Graffiti." ANSWER:Harrison Ford was a counselor on the set of Star Wars. Since George Lucas wanted no experienced actors for the parts, Harrison was not allowed to audition for the part. After months of finding no one suitable to play the role, he was asked to audition and got the part. "Right place at the right time."

Not directly. They may have shared a distant ancestor named Ford. At any rate, "Gerald" was not related by blood, because his biological father was Leslie Lynch King, Sr., for whom he was named. When his mother remarried, he was not legally adopted, and he did not legally change his name to that of his stepfather (Gerald Rudolff Ford) until 1935. He had three half-brothers who were born Fords.
