Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter was put onto the Quidditch team in chapter nine of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The chapter is titled 'The Midnight Duel'.

Albus Dumbledore enchanted the Mirror of Erised so that somebody who wanted the stone, but didn't want to use it, would be able to get it. When Harry looked into the Mirror, it was given to him as he wanted it only to prevent Lord Voldemort from having it.

Foreshadowing, similies, metaphors, irony, and personification.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and all of their classmates were eleven years old. Most of them would have turned twelve throughout the school year.

The adults aged varied. Severus Snape was 31, Minerva McGonagall was 56 and Albus Dumbledore was 110.

I don't think so, though there was a Greek Goddess called Eris the mirror's name 'Erised' is actually just 'desire' spelt backwards as the mirrors enscription reversed is 'I show not your face but you heart's desire'. I can't be sure but I think it's just a coincidence.

In Order of the Phoenix, Professor Snape teaches Harry Occlumency and Harry's least favourite, Potions.

Ron Weasley dislikes corned beef sandwiches.

The book says that Dudley and his friend want to see animals like pythons, then finds the largest animal in the place. Vernon taps, nothing happens. Harry then talks to the snake after it winks at him.

The tag on the snake says Boa Constrictor, Brazil. When Harry breaks the glass, the snake says 'Brazil here I come,' leading us to believe the snake was going to try and travel to Brazil.

Both books features the same main characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort. There are also several other characters who appear in both.

Both feature a battle between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort.

Harry defeats Voldemort in both.

The themes of love, death and friendship appear in both.

Harry, Ron and Hermione are having tea with Hagrid. Ron tells Harry that Severus Snape was the person jinxing his broom, but Hagrid doesn't believe them saying that Snape would never do that. Trying to prove Snape is up to something, Harry tells Hagrid about Snape attempting get past Fluffy. Hagrid is shocked that they know about Fluffy and accidentally tells them that somebody named Nicolas Flamel is involved, setting them on a quest to discover who he is and what Fluffy is guarding.

There are many concepts of good and bad in the series, but one of the overall messages is that "good" and "bad" aren't so easily defined.

The Dursleys can be considered evil, they abused Harry and never cared about him. In contrast, Hagrid could be considered good because he did care about Harry. Yet the Dursleys didn't need to take him in, so they cannot be considered completely evil. Hagrid also cannot be considered completely good since he did give Dudley a pigs tail when he didn't really do anything wrong.

Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape can also be considered evil. They take an instant dislike to Harry and bully him.

Harry and Ron are good characters, but they both upset Hermione Granger and weren't overly nice to her before they became friends.

Lord Voldemort is the antagonist and sets out to kill hurt people. Professor Quirrell aids him in doing so.

Albus Dumbledore is another good character, although we find out in later books that he has many dark secrets.

Harry tried some of everything at the welcome feast except from the mint humbugs. He avoided them because he thought it was strange they were being served as part of the main course, given that they are sweets.

Harry Potter, accompanied by Rubeus Hagrid, went shopping in Diagon Alley. Harry bought his wand in Ollivander's, reportedly the best wandmaker in those parts. Coincidentally, he bought a wand who's core was made from a tailfeather from Fawkes, Albus Dumbledore's phoenix. This same tailfeather was used in the making of the core of Tom Riddle, aka Lord Voldemort's wand

If you purchase Quidditch through the ages, it has a part in it which tells you of all the brooms and a little history behind them. This is a list of broomsticks that I know of:

Ron and Harry "saved" Hermione from a troll. She wouldn't have been in a situation to be endangered if it weren't for them so they ran to help. The boys are awarded house points and Hermione loses some because she covers for the boys so they don't get in trouble.

Professor Quirrell was trying to find out what was behind the door, he didn't actually get close enough to get bitten. Professor Snape was the one who got bitten as he tried to stop Quirrell.

The major complication is that Harry, Hermione & Ron think that Snape is trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone, so they go investigating. That's where the trouble really begins.

Harry Potter who was described as small and skinny for his age with messy, jet black hair. Harry also has a thin scar on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt and his clothes were too big for him (as they previously belonged to his much larger cousin).

Ron Weasley who was tall and lanky with bright red hair. Ron was described as having pale skin and lots of freckles.

Hermione Granger who had bushy brown hair, large front teeth and a bossy voice.

Severus Snape who had greasy black hair, cold black eyes and wore a large cloak that made him look like a bat.

Rubeus Hagrid who is a giant man with long shaggy hair and black eyes.

Albus Dumbledore who had a long, white beard and a twinkle behind his blue eyes.
