Heaven and Hell

From the earliest civilizations mankind has questioned the concept of a God or higher power as creator. Many religions believe in the concept of a heaven and a hell as a place that souls go to reside after death. Endlessly fascinating and at times controversial, Heaven and Hell are a part of the human experience.

Why is God so secretive and mysterious?

God, Himself is not secretive and mysterious, He doesn't hide things from us, but He seems secretive and mysterious because He is a mystery to us human beings, He is a Being way beyond our understanding. He is special and incomprehensible. We cannot even imagine what He is like, apart from what we know about Him. Which is little. If you truly want to know God, look at the world around you. See the good He has made and does. See man's corruptions within it though. Know that such things displease Him. Killing, especially the killing of innocent persons. Stealing, taking His name in vain, and such. There is much more I can name. Do good in order to please Him. God is a supernatural mystery. The only way to get to know a person is to talk to them, and find out facts about them. If you really liked a particular movie star, and you wanted to be able to "meet them", which when you meet someone you learn about them, but you know you will, but you still crave to know about them till then, you'd find everything you could on them. Do that with God. He's not hiding in the shadows, He's in plain sight! He's right there, so close that amongst all this world's turmoil, it's hard to notice Him. Unless we take the time to talk with Him, listen to Him, and learn about Him. I hope this helps.

Who is hell designed for?

Originally, hell was for Satan and his fallen angels. All that changed when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were banished from the Eden. Man's fall from grace left him in an impossible situation. Christ died so humans still have the hope of heaven. But God has to separate His faithful saints from the wicked, like taking rotten apples from a barrel of good fruit. The rotton fruit, if left, would spread the rot to the perfect ones. So those deserving paradise will live in mansions while unrepentant sinners will spend eterinty with the 'god of their own choice, Satan'. A permanent separation from all that is good.

It is obviously a very different place that our carbon based earth.

Why was there silence in heaven?

Revelation 8:1 tells of the opening of the 7th seal and there was silence in heaven for 1/2 hour. This half hour could be bible time which would equate to 1 week here on earth. The half hour may mean that all in heaven were 'holding their breath' waiting to see who could be saved. Up to that point humans have the choice.
