Heaven and Hell

From the earliest civilizations mankind has questioned the concept of a God or higher power as creator. Many religions believe in the concept of a heaven and a hell as a place that souls go to reside after death. Endlessly fascinating and at times controversial, Heaven and Hell are a part of the human experience.

Will women be included in the 144000 in heaven with Jesus?

Yes. Many more than 144,000 will be there.

Catholic AnswerNumbers in the Bible all have symbolic significance. The number twelve is considered completeness and ruling, as in the twelve tribes of Israel descendants of the twelve sons of Israel, and the twelve apostles of the New Kingdom. 144,000 is 12 squared and given universal completeness by multiplying it by a thousand - thus is represents all the saved from all time and thus would include all the women throughout history who have been saved.

I am a 13-year-old autistic girl named Patria and I wanted to ask you are you sure everyone stays in heaven or hell forever when they die?

Yes they do. However, there is a third state known as Purgatory, where people only stay temporily, before being admitted into Heaven.

Do people die in hell?

In Christianity, hell is the state of being separated from God for all eternity, that is it's worse pain, but there are many other pains. The primary truth about it is that is 1) a state of being, not a place, and 2) it is eternal, meaning that it never ends, and there is no time (time is just a measure of change). All of which means that No, people do not die in hell, they exist in that state for eternity.

What if there is no heaven or hell?

There is at least a strong argument that these are not 'places' per se, as we understand them. Scripture even gives strong indications that there are 'levels' to each; and that a soul in one of those may converse with a soul, if not in the other, at least outside of their 'plane.'

See that these may be more akin to spiritual 'concepts,' which in no way is meant to imply that they are not 'real,' but that we almost surely have a very dim understanding of them; which is also stated in Scripture at least indirectly.

Are you sure you to go to hell?

This depends on your personal beliefs. Many believe that heaven and hell exist after death, but your beliefs may differ.

Was there a heaven did Adam and Eva go to heaven or hell?

The term "hell" as used in the Bible comes from the Greek and Hebrew terms 'Sheol' and 'Hades', both which refer to the common grave of mankind (& even animals). When people go there, they simply return 'to dust', a.k.a. break down to the bare elements they were made from and cease to exist. (Ecclesiastes 3:19-20) During this breakdown process, the person knows/feels nothing, completely unconscious. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6 & 10) Adam and Eve both went to 'hell', sentenced to death for their act of disobedience. (Genesis 3:19)

(New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)

Who will live on earth after everyone is gone to heaven or hell?

The Bible speaks of 3 heavens and 3 hells with the most common understanding of Paradise or the Throne of God as being the 3rd and highest heaven, while the most common word translated hell is 'sheol' in the Hebrew and 'hades' in the Greek. Both simply mean the grave or pit - common end for all living things.

With this in mind, Peter tells of the now 'old' Earth and heavens (sky where birds fly and 'space' or the 1st and 2nd heavens) will be purged clean:

The Day of the Lord10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of personsought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

Concerning the newly purged planet Earth, most are very surprised by what the Scripture actually says:

Revelation 21:1-4New King James Version (NKJV) All Things Made New21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

So as Jesus told us in the famous 'Beatitudes' and five times in the Psalms, mankind changed into spiritual children of God will inherit the Earth as the new Headquarters for the God Family. No one but Jesus has ascended into Heaven:

John 3:13New King James Version (NKJV)

13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:5New King James Version (NKJV)

5 Blessed are the meek,

For they shall inherit the earth.

What purpose do heaven and hell serve?

THE PURPOSE OF HEAVEN AND HELL:

The purpose of heaven and hell are best understood though Hinduism.

The Hindu supreme god Brahman is made of seven gods.

In a definite order, these are,

1. Indra - the god of day dreaming/ happiness

2. Shakti - the god of illusion

3. Brahma - the god of creativity

4. Vishnu - the god of stabilization

5. Shiva - the god of determination

6. Shani - the god of status increase

7. Yama - the god of compulsion

The central god Vishnu facilitates both thoughts and actions equally, but to the least extent and therefore the safest Hindu god. Indra facilitates just thoughts, but to the maximum extent, and Yama just actions but to the maximum extent.

The most peripheral gods Indra and Yama are the most difficult to worship. Indra may trap us eternally in a daydream world and Yama may make us reckless. Thus, the use of the peripheral gods/ forces in their original form is prohibited.

They are modified and made virtual in such a way that they can be used to convert a thought into socially acceptable thoughts and actions only.

Thus, Indra became the god of heaven and Yama the god of hell.

HELL:

A thought that needs the Yama (compulsive) force to get converted into action gets abolished, gets modified by the virtual Yama force, based on situations in which the action was accepted by the society. We can't control the virtual Yama force.

HEAVEN:

A thought that can trap us in a daydream world too is modified by heaven/ dreaming force and transformed into action. We can't control the virtual Indra force also.

Thus, heaven and hell have nothing to do with our death, and are mechanisms that abolish socially unacceptable thoughts and actions and modify them to make them socially acceptable.

Did Osama Bin Laden go to hell?

Osama believed that fighting against non-Muslims would get him into Muslim heaven. According to his beliefs, he should be in Muslim heaven. However, the Bible (and common sense) tell us that nobody gets rewarded for murdering innocent people. He is in hell.

//Hell is the domain of the devil and those that reject Jesus Christ. I think we can safely assume that Bin Laden did not embrace the truth of the saviour Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins as payment for the sins of the world. There is no other way to avoid eternal torment in hell. If Bin Laden did not call on the name of the Saviour, then we can safely assume he is in hell with other non-believers.

Why should people believe in heaven and hell?

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden, they doomed mankind to certain death. Every person after that is born with original sin. The entire human race was made mortal, subject to illness and death, and eventually an eternity in hell.

But God loved humans so much that he made a 'loophole', a chance for all to avoid such a fate. The salvation came in the form of Jesus Christ. He was sent as a sacrifice so the we could escape hell.

In order to attain this free gift of salvation a person must accept Jesus Christ as the only Son of the living God. For those that do not believe, or refuse to live by God's law, the destination of their soul will be hell. To avoid hell you must believe.

.

AnswerBeing a Christian, I certainly think you should believe as I believe in heaven or hell because God has revealed to us that we are immortal and then our life on earth ends, which is nothing more than making our choice, we are going to be in one or the other place forever.

.

However, I think more than that, one could probably come to a rational explanation of both as existing without having to resort to religion and revelation. After all, men have believed in the afterlife for thousands and thousands of years, mostly WITHOUT benefit of revelation from God. We have proof from history that prehistoric man had elaborate burial rites, and look at the Egyptians! All of that was based on what man had just thought up, without benefit of God's direct intervention. And goodness knows we have enough television shows and books based on ghosts, demons, etc. to give anyone pause that wants to think this is all there is.

Does Trayvon Martin Burns In Hell?

We cannot know the destination of other's souls. It is between that person and God as to where that soul will spend eternity.

Did the Puritans know if they were destined to go to heaven or hell?

The Puritans were very strict Catholics. If they broke one of their uber-strict rule, then yes, they would have committed a sin, and they would presume they would go to Hell.

Another Answer:

The 16th Century Puritans were primarily English Protestants. One branch, Calvinist, believed in 'predestination' meaning one's final fate was pre-determined by God. Not all who are Protestant believe this to be the case.

How do people know about heaven if they have never been there?

When nobody has been to heaven, it is much better to understand that heaven and hell are not some physical domains somewhere distant in the stars. Heaven and hell are experienced when we come back to earth and we take rebirth. The scriptures say, as you sow shall you reap. Why does a small child suffer? Not because God is cruel, but because it is carrying its karma and thus, it comes back and suffer. Therefore, death is not the end, it's just a bend. It is much better to understand that heaven and hell are experienced right here on earth. Our good deeds or sins are recorded as per our karma and they will decide our destiny. Just like the seed we plant decides the fruit on the tree, the deed we plant decides our destiny.

When you die what do you think heaven will look like?

The bible tells us that heaven will be wonderful. Mansions and streets of gold surrounded by walls with many different kinds of jewels. There will be no sun or moon nor will there be night. The presense of the Lord will illuminate and warm the new heaven. There will be no more oceans, only fresh water.

What would happen if you opened the gates of hell?

Well if you believe in hell and heaven. Then all the bad sprites would be let out! But know one knows for sure as no one has ever gone to hell found out and came back and told us the answer! I am not really religous but I think that if the gates opened you would be sucked in and you would be stuck there forever. But also do the sprite's of your body have hands? If they didn't have hands how would they open the gates? Or how would your spirit find the gates? There are so many questions and everyone would have a diffident answer. So really it's is what you believe. P.S this answers from a 12 year old...

//The hell described in the bible is more like a bottomless pit where those who do evil are thrown into. The fires are neverending, the torment eternal. Hopefully we will never see this place.//

Can people in heaven look into hell?
