My experience on the east-side of Indianapolis where they are located within a block of each other is that Home Depot is for the more skilled consumer, where as Lowe's will be easier to navigate and be more friendly. As someone totally unfit for home repair I prefer Lowe's.

And for the record, Lowes and The Home Depot selling "Hook & Probe Kits" is the exact same loophole a head shop selling a bong or massive bubbler would use by referring to it as a "tobacco water pipe" instead of the obvious.
