How do remove the tailgate cap on a Honda Ridgeline?
The tailgate cap is secured to the bed by two rows of plastic rivets. The rivets slide on individual tracks. Using a rubber mallet, firmly but gently(at first until you get the "feel" of the force needed), rap on the left(driver's) end of the cap. You are trying to slide the cap from left to right about one inch. You may then simply lift the cap off the bed, leaving all the rivets in place. Installing the cap is just the reverse of the removal. If you need to remove the plastic rivets for any reason, simply rotate them about one quarter turn and they come right out.

2006 Honda Ridgeline How do you change the license plate bulb?
Hi, My wife has a 2006 Ridgeline with the left license plate bulb out. It's real easy..you do not need any tools and the bulb number is 168 at Auto Zone. Let's start with the left side..Looking at the black trim ring, place your fingernails underneath side closest to the back of the vehicle. Pull gently towards the opposite end. You will feel a sort of spring action. Keep pulling until the side clears the body..at that point your can remove the entire assembly. The bulb socket twists off and the bulb is sitting right there. Pull the bulb out and replace with a new 168. The folks at Auto Zone also suggested using bulb grease..we did..just put some in the bulb socket first, then install the bulb, then add more grease to the outside of the bulb where it makes contact with the socket. Screw the bulb socket assembly back in to the housing..fit the springy portion of the trim ring back into the body..put a little pressure on the other side and the entire assembly is back in place. I changed out the right side as well with a new bulb. I kept the old good one in the glove box for a just in case. This whole procedure is less than 10 minutes. The materials were less than $5.00. I wonder how much this would have cost to do at the Honda Dealer?
