Can you feed a iguana salad?

Iguanas are strict herbivores requiring a nutritionally balanced mixture of various ORGANIC greens (not lettuce) vegetables and edible flowers. Feeding an iguana lettuce (typically meaning iceberg or other loose leaf varieties) is like feeding your dog sawdust. All you are doing is filling the gut - there is virtually no nutritional value and you are likely to develop digestive problems. If you are not prepared to do a lot of work - researching, preparing and caring for an iguana - do not get one.

While there are many personable igs out there - they are the EXCEPTION - not the norm. It takes A LOT of work to train and maintain a docile well behaved iguana. You are talking about an animal that has the potential to grow to 6 ft - needs space equivalent to a small bedroom with high humidity (60+%) and has a a very nasty bite - not to mention crunch power! This is NOT a beginner animal. IT IS THE MOST DISCARDED REPTILE IN THE U.S. - and I am guessing in other countries as well. We as a herp society (San Diego Herpetological Society) and myself personally, receive over 30 calls a month from people looking to donate (aka unload) their iguana - because it 1.)is too big 2.)got too mean 3.)bit me, my kid, the dog, etc. 4.)requires too much care 5.)is too hard to care for - or my most frustrating 6.) because it is sick (99% of the time due to poor husbandry). Igs can live on a poor improper diet for years - all the while suffering greatly as their renal system shuts down - the calcium is leeched from their bones and they turn to rubber - they are overrun with parasites internal and sometimes external - they have been abused and neglected - suffer extreme dehydration and more maladies than I can list in several pages.

If you have an iguana - you need to take proper care of it! One of the best resources I have found is Green Iguana---The Ultimate Owner's Manual by James W. Hatfield III - you can order it online at www.iguana.com - it spells out the good - the bad and the ugly when it comes to ig ownership. (I have no vested interest in the book - it is one of the most complete works written on the subject.) Contact your local herpetological society for additional information on iguana care or check out the related links.

Are iguanas indigenous to New Zealand?

They don't naturally occur in New Zealand and from what I can tell theyve been banned from being imported to New Zealand and Australia. I found this on a site:

"Their import is banned in Australia and New Zealand where the climate is warm and dry in parts - perfect for golden hamsters!" They think they will become a pest, which has happened in other countries, as they would probably thrive in these conditions

What measures can one take to protect the environment?

Protection of Wild Life and their plantations (aka Habitats) , reservation of jungles , using environmentally friendly renewable energy and nuclear power stations.

This answer is three-pronged. Earth has always, in the past, been able to provide Sustenance for us. NOW IT IS OUR TURN to return the Favor.

To protect Earth's environment, as in our modern era, we must put back - with control of Nitrogen & Phosphorus fertilizers - all that we have removed.

Conversely, to protect Atmosphere's environment - mostly, but by no means exclusively, in terms of CO2 - we must remove all, and more, of what we have put in.

Protection of the Ocean's environment is far more critical due to the difficulty imposed because It's health depends upon BOTH of the above.

The protection of wild life and plantation in the desert areas is vital due to lack of water. Salt-ish water is available at some of the places that could be used for plantation of plants like saliconia or plants that grow near the occasions or some of the existing bushes or plants can be conserved. Drinking water for wild life is not available and no arrangements are visible for conversion of salt-ish water into drinkable water for wild life. The rain water or flood water could be collected in suitable pools. Some research about Arizona desert was mentioned.

Salt-ish water fish is essential as a feed for many birds but no such efforts are made in the desert areas. There is no limit on hunting of animals in many parts of the world or laws are not obeyed. The wild life is safe nowhere due to increasing population. A strategy at UNO level is required for protection of wild life and plantation

What if we did not have human rights?

well i don't understand completely what this means however i will try... This is just what i think not what i know for sure. If not one person had human rights there would be no authority because no one would be the boss of anyone because none of us would have rights. There would probably be fights even wars! There would be money problems, people stealing, no lands being looked after and there is so much more things that would be ruined without rules however i really cant explain them all. Remember this is only what I think.

What are the four abiotic factors of an iguana?

The four abiotic factors that can affect an iguana are temperature (heat or cold), sunlight (UV exposure), humidity (moisture level), and terrain (rocky or sandy substrate). These factors play a crucial role in the iguana's thermoregulation, metabolism, hydration, and shelter.

How do you take care of a red-bellied newt?

Fire belly newts are the salamanders that you see in some fish tanks at the pet store. They are all black with a red underside. These salamanders are quite easy to care for and they are a good choice for somebody looking to get their first lizard or

salamander. Newts only grow to be about four or five inches in length which means that you don't need a large aquarium to keep them in. If you have a lot of newts you will need a bigger tank to house them. You will want a tank with a secure lid and you will probably want some type of underwater filtration system.

The underside of the newt is red or orange to warn off predators that may be looking to eat them for a snack. The bring colors will warn the prey to stay away from the newt. Newts are secrete a type of poisonous liquid from glands located by their necks. This is not known to be poisonous to people.

Newts are good swimmers but they will also come out of the water to bask in the sun. Newts also love to be on land as much as they do the water. They will get out of the water to bask in the sun under a heat lamp or light. You should provide them with a dry area to relax as well as an area to swim. You should have a basic 2 1/2 gallon tank for one newt and place a large pile of rocks somewhere in the tank so that the newt can come up from swimming and dry off. You should change the water frequently to avoid the water levels getting at an unsafe level.

You will want to purchase some type of blackworms for your newt to eat or some type of pellet food. Most pet stores will sell pellet food that is designed for fire belly newts.

If you have some type of gravel at the bottom of your tank you will want to make sure that the newt isn't able to suck it in because it will get stuck in the newt mouth.
