Share market indexes serve as benchmarks that reflect the overall performance of a specific segment of the stock market or the market as a whole. They are calculated based on the prices of selected stocks, providing a snapshot of market trends, investor sentiment, and economic conditions. When indexes rise, it generally indicates that the majority of stocks within that index are performing well, suggesting investor confidence and a healthy market.
