It wasn't really a dream. Clarence, the angel, showed George Bailey what his life would have been like if he had never existed. If it wasn't for George Bailey, the evil Mr. Potter would have taken over the whole town, George's brother would have died as a child, the people of the town would be living in squalor, and many other horrible things. Clarence made George realize how much of a difference he made in the lives of others and how precious his life actually was.
He grants him the wish that he had ever been born and shows him what things would have been like without him.
Clarence was the name of the guardian angel.
At the end of the movie, Clarence gave George Bailey the book "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" with the inscription, "Remember, George. No man is a failure who has friends."
The angel that Clarence talks to is named Joseph.
There is no right answer to this question, and it is a question that makes many people wonder about. Although, I would have to say being around other people, like my family and friends. My friends and family always make me laugh, and are always there for me when I need them. I also like to see how I affect other people. Remember: Your greatest legacy is not what you do, but what others do because of you. Life has many joys, and it is always nice to share them with other people. But this is a question that you must answer yourself. Friends and family are only a sliver of all the things that make life wonderful. Think of things that you enjoy. These are the things that make YOUR life wonderful.
