John Goodman is an American actor. Although John Goodman had played in other parts, he became a household name while playing the part of Dan in the show Rosanne. Since leaving the show, his career has flourished with parts in many television shows and movies. He also lends his distinctive voice to animated films, such as Monsters Inc.

He was one of several male models who did billboards and magazine ads for Salem.

The models who portrayed the Marlboro Man were New York Giants Quarterback Charley Conerly, New York Giants Defensive Back Jim Patton, Darrell Winfield, Dick Hammer, Brad Johnson, Bill Dutra, Dean Myers, Robert Norris, Wayne McLaren, David McLean and Tom Mattox. Two of them, McLaren and McLean, died of lung cancer.
