Thompson and Oscar Zeta Acosta) have pretty much done every drug, broken nearly every law, and destroyed enough personal property in Las Vegas that Gonzo leaves the city and heads back to LA while Duke stays behind and bangs out his story and then escapes the city and drives back to LA in his stolen rental car.
