In addition to Jim Brown, Wayne Gretzky was an accomplished lacrosse player, he credits lacrosse for his excellent passing ability. In fact, many NHL players played lacrosse. Brendan Shanahan, Doug Gilmour, Cliff Ronning, Joe Sakic, Steve Larmer, Collin Patterson, Tim Hunter, Paul Kariya, Don Cherry, Gary Roberts, Adam Oates, Paul Coffey, and Joe Nieuwendyk are just a few examples.

The most famous players without fame in other sports are probably the Gait brothers, Paul and Gary. They played at Syracuse and won a couple of NCAA titles, then played in the pro American pro box leagues, winning titles there with Philadelphia and a couple of other teams.

Where I'm from, illegal lacrosse checks vary in women's lacrosse. As for men's, well, I don't play men's, so I can't help you there...but if you're looking for women's rules here's the way I've been raised:

When you are young and beginning, all checking is illegal.

When you are in secondary elementary school, checking below the knees is allowed.

When you are in middle school/junior high, check is allowed below the shoulders.

Eventually, checking is allowed everywhere.

The only checking I know is illegal at my age is empty checks. If your opponent does not securely have the ball in their stick, and her stick is empty, the refs will call this foul.

For further information, you can check your team/program guidelines or rulebook.

Now, if you want to know how to prevent checking all around? One word: cradle. Cradling is hard for beginners, but becomes a second nature as soon as you pick it up. When cradling, you are also securing the ball in your stick, flicking your wrist. It's quite simple. If you have been checked, and the refs don't call it, don't get distracted. Just keep trying. PRACTICE!

It depends on how much playing time your coach gives you. But the average midfielder does run a good amount. I reckamend that if you need help conditioning your body run up to 2 miles when ever you can, and time yourself to see your progress WHICH WILL HELP since you will run alot during the games.

There are four quarters in lacrosse. The time depends. If you're in a youth league maybe 8 minutes each. College and the MLL are 4, 15 minute quarters. Plus there is half time, time outs, and what not. So the time varies game to game.

Im not sure when it officialy became a sport. it used to be a fightiong technique. Indians would take rocks and put them in their versions of lacrosse sticks and hit there enemy with them. I"m guessing after "white man" discovered it, we began to use there war technique for recreational purpose which over the years became a sport

i don't think it is an advantage, just not paying for another head right now.

What i did was I put it in for 8 minutes, took it out and cooled it off, and then put it in for another 7 minutes. What this does is it gives it 2 layers, so if the head scratches then the color wont come off. And i also put in around 1 tbsp of vinegar and around 1-2 teaspoon of salt. This gives it a bolder, better color.

well if your talking about the most popular form of lacrosse (field lacrosse, like the one in college) then you can technically hold the ball as long as you want to, If you are playing Box Lacrosse however, you have 30 seconds to take a shot (it resets after each shot) or you and your team will lose possesion of the ball.
