Can ladybugs survive cold weather?
During winter months ladybugs "overwinter" or hibernate. They seek shelter under rocks/plants and they group together in aggregates varying from a few ladybugs up to tens of thousands depending on the particular species of ladybug. Also to conserve energy they slow down their metabolic rate. http://flickr.com/photos/j-fish/2281357056/ http://www.eje.cz/scripts/viewabstract.php?abstract=1197 Based on this, do ladybugs find this time enjoyable? I would imagine they would prefer to eat and make more ladybugs. So no, lady bugs don't like the cold.
Both adults and larvae ladybugs, are known primarily as predators of aphids (plant lice), but they prey also on many other pests such as soft-scale insects, mealybugs, spider mites and eggs of the Colorado Potato Beetle and European Corn Borer. A few feed on plant and pollen mildews. One larva will eat about 400 medium-size aphids during its development to the pupal stage. An adult will eat about 300 medium-size aphids before it lays eggs. About three to ten aphids are eaten for each egg the beetle lays. More than 5,000 aphids may be eaten by a single adult in its lifetime. The lady beetle's huge appetite and reproductive capacity often allow it to rapidly clean out its prey.
What special characteristics or adaptations does the ladybug have?

Do ladybugs have an exoskeleton?
Yes, ladybugs (Coccinellidae family) have exoskeletons, or hard skeletons that are located on the outside of the body.
Specifically, ladybugs are insects. All insects have the following:
Compound eyes on their heads;
Head, thorax and abdomen as three (3) distinct body parts;
One (1) pair of antennae;
Skeleton that is hard and on the outside of the body;
Three (3) pairs of segmented legs.
Ladybugs have all of the above so they therefore have exoskeletons.
Yes, they do!
Yes it is okay to keep ladybirds in a jar. As long as the jar is big enough. First get a jar a jam jar will do. Go outside and find one or more ladybirds (i have 6). Fill the jar with one stone and 2 dandilion leaves aswell as 2 or 3 drops of water so your ladybird doesn't dehidrate. Put you ladybird(s) in the jar. You can also add flowers in as ladybirds love them. Your ladybird may try to escape if it does try to let it go and find another one. Proper ladybird food is half a raisan a day. For the jars lid use a circular peice of paper and rap it round the top of the jar secure it on with a hair bobble or elastic band. use a folk to put a few holes in the top so he/she can breathe.
Yea, ladybugs do. I have many at my house and they hide under the leaves I put out for them.
Yea, they lie in under the leaves in a cage so that they can eat and sleep and don't have to look for food for long.
What do ladybugs eat besides bugs?
Ladybugs eat many types of bugs including aphids, and other soft bodied insects such as mites, white flies, and scale insects that can devour a garden. There are some species of ladybugs that can be considered as vegetarian, preferring to eat mushrooms and various forms of fungus. Some like to dine on mildew, while others do prefer eating leaves, and may become a pest to some plants.
No, because they are no insects inside. Lady bugs eat insects that feed on farmers plants. The answer would be no.
No the spots on a ladybug are not symmetrical how ever there could be a ladybug that has symmetrical spots but that's usually a rare site.
Yes. I have been bitten several times. Each year our home gets invaded in early autumn (we live in Wisconsin). We get the typical red ladybugs and the Asian ones which are orange (both with black spots). For the remainder of the winter the orange ones remain in the house coming out seemingly one or two at a time on a regular basis. We have to check the bed every night or we can be assured of being awakened by the rather painful bite. Unlike horseflies and mosquitoes, these insects don't need any time to make the bite noticeable. Almost the second they land or crawl on they bite. Also unlike the horsefly and mosquito, the bite doesn't seem to leave any bump or itch, it just hurts.
yes, they make a chattering noise
like when you slamp your teeth together
Does a ladybird larvae bite hurt?
the red one do not bites , the orange one does because its poisonest

Eight to ten millimeters (0.3 to 0.4 inches) is the length of an adult ladybug. The insect in question (Coccinellidae family) may vary considerably in color, length, ornamentation (spots), and width according to species. But the show always be an attractively rounded shape in which the longest length approximates the widest width and vice versa.
