Skrova Lighthouse was created in 1922.

By 1935, erosion was threatening the Cape Hatteras lighthouse so much that the water was actually reaching its base. The groynes, dikes and breakwaters were an attempt to hold back the erosion process.

The groynes proved ineffective so the tower was abandoned and a functional light placed on a steel tower further inland from the shore. After a few years, wooden revetments, a more effective method for erosion control, helped reclaim some of the shoreline.

The main purpose for the lighthouse of Alexandria, also known as the Pharos, was to have been a lighthouse much like today's lighthouses' purpose - to guide ships safely to harbour. Alexandria was a busy harbour, with many trade ships coming in, and the Pharos enabled safe passage. Sailing in this coastal region was very dangerous, so it was built to help the sailors navigate their return to the Great Harbor. It was also both a practical and unique symbol of the 'glory' of the ancient city of Alexandria, which flourished under Ptolemy Soter.

Ptolemy II came up with the idea for the lighthouse, and Sostratus of Knidos was the actual architect. At least one of them was Greek.

I think it would be better if we had another series of Round the Twist because I like the show and having an all new series of Round the Twist would be better, like with new voices of the twists, includes Tony Twist, Pete Twist, Linda Twist, and Bronson Twist. New voices of the Gribbles, includes Harold Gribble, Matron Gribble, and James Gribble. New voices of other characters, includes Faye James, Mr Snapper, Nell, Fiona, Tiger, and Rabbit. We should have a series 5 of Round the Twist cause the show is fantastic!

The lighthouse of Alexandria lasted until the 1300s, until two earthquakes - one in 1303 and one in 1323. This caused great damage to the lighthouse, but failed to topple it. It finally toppled into the sea in 1326. A fort was built where it used to be. Remains of the lighthouse were found in 1994 underwater, and they are thinking about making it an underwater museum for divers.

The lighthouse of Alexandria was damaged in an earthquake in 1303 and another twenty years later in 1323. It toppled as a result of the earthquakes in 1326.
