Yes. My English mastiff was very hesitant at first in the water and would only go so deep. When it started getting warmer and more people and dogs were swimming, she decided to give it a try and loves it. I know some mastiffs do not swim but they have the ability to.
Removing dew claws is a surgical procedure, considered by many Breed Organizations to be inhumane and unnecessary since its usually done shortly after birth with no anesthetic. You need to check with the relevant Breed Organization or Club to find out what their policy is...or talk to the Show secretary for the show's policy.
In my case I was taking Nexium twice per day. Nexium causes a foam to develop in the stomach so that the gastric acids don't come up the esophagus. Usually a person doesn't take the high dose of Nexium 40 mg twice per day. Anyway, my stomach was full of foam and also the digested food wasn't moving to the intestine as it should.... given Reglan for that... it worked without side effects.
So, when a stomach is full of foam and you drink a half glass of water the foam comes to the top. The more one drinks or eats, the more foam is coming up the esophagus... and then finally coming out of it... sometimes formed like a white foam sausage until it touches the porcelain sink or toilet, when it disappates.
So my severe gastritis caused the need to use Nexium, which caused the white foam, and sometimes with gastric acids, bile, and mucus to come out, too.
This is all theoretical since fighting animals intentionally is just bad.
That depends on what type of pig. English Mastiff's are huge and have large powerful jaws. However, there are little teeny tiny pigs and then some great big ones with tusks. If you are going for a one on one with one of those, my vote goes to the pig. I have heard of some dogs being ripped up by them. They are also very solid, where as the English mastiff is more leggy.
Quite a few actually. Popular ones are...
English Mastiff
German Mastiff (Better known as Great Dane)
Tibetian Mastiff
Neapolitan Mastiff
Bull Mastiff
Anatolian Mastiff
French Mastiff
Spanish Mastiff
And still there are more. c:
Pit Bull Bite: 235 pounds of force
German Shepherd: 238 pounds of force
Rottweiler: 328 pounds of force
Lion: 691 pounds of force
Hyena: 1000 pounds of force
Dog bite strength is proportional to the size of the dog. So of the four listed breeds, the pit bull would on average have the least bite force, the bull mastiff would average the highest bite force, and the German shepherd, rottweiler, and bouvier would be between. Of course, a dog's bite strength on any given bite can vary widely, dependant on the level of agitation and bite-inhibition of the particular individual.
The answer-changing nonsense below does nothing to answer the question and is entirely falsified.
German shepherds have the most powerful bite. Current bite pressure record is 450-1000lbs (made by a German shepherd) their average bite pressure is 450 pounds
This is the the best solution to the staffy swimming issue ; )

They are not naturally the best swimmers in the dog world, mainly because they have quite heavy, muscular bodies, with short legs, but they can be taught to swim. However, it is best to supervise them when they are in the water.
Your puppy's size really depends on the size of it's parents, and if your puppy is male, or female.
Generally, at 3 months of age a male English Mastiff puppy weighs around 45 pounds, and a female around 39 pounds.
Your vet would be able to tell you if your puppy was over or under weight.
The Bullmastiff breed, is a combination of the Mastiff and the Bulldog. This breed was in created in England around 1850 and it's the only guard dog created there. The Alpine Mastiff was an extinct breed originating in Switzerland but the Saint Bernard was also known as the Alpine Mastiff. America has it's matiff called The American Bandogge Mastiff which looks like a mastiff mixed with pitbull and even share the blue color of the pitbulls. The Argentian dogo is also called the Argentian mastiff.
This is to show that the mastiff breed was paramount for developing the kinds of mastiff breed around the world.
It depends on the gene pool of both breeds. It is said that dogs with mixed breeds live healthier lives. I've had almost all the dogs in my life that were mixed breeds for that reason (called Heinz 57 variety, but the rage now) and 3 have lived to be 19 - 20 years old. Both of the breeds in your dog need lots of exercise. Be sure you are fussy what foods you buy for them. Gluten content, no filtering organs in their food (could be a diseased animals liver or kidneys in the mix) because as of now there are no strict guidelines for dog food manufacturers. Pet owners are outraged by this last outbreak of bad gluten (from China) and now find that Melamine has been also present in some dog foods. Talk to a good pet store such as Petcetera (if you have one in the U.S.) or any larger pet store.
Patricia Broughan Cohen: Of my six mastiffs over 23 years, not counting the one murdered at 4 [If I were to ever catch the murderer, he would suffer the same fate only I would not offer the medical care mine received and the merciful end that came to be], they all left me between the ages of 9 to 13[an outlyer]. Respectively and honestly, patricia broughan cohen
You asked me to impeove answer, whqt do you want? The textbook 9-11 years. Sorry, at 65 you get the truth. No one and nothing in my house receives any abuse--cockroaches receive immediate death--the furniture, well that's a different story. This IS my final answer. pbcohen
they make shrink back down some, but 99% of them still hang/sag somewhat from my previous experience with them. My females never went back up yet my friends female's did a little...hard to say.
I raise cane corso mastiffs. there teats should not be any smaller then the first time.if teats are small then milk may not be being produced at the rate it should be and the teat will appear small..also please be warned mastiffs are known to get hook worms.and can cause alot of problems i just lost 7 pups to hook worm.mother appears normal but the larva is passed threw milk and blood to the pups and the pups will die in 2 weeks. Matiffs are also known for parvo.you should have the dog checked at a vet..my pups were fine big strong but with in 2 weeks they all died within 12 hours of each other. And its very painfull to pups ..heed the warnings with mastiffs..
Generally no, and they are definitely not recommended for inexperienced dog owners.
The Tibetan Mastiff is a strong-willed and occasionally stubborn dog. It can be self-centred at times, and can be ignorant of commands, so it requires a confident and experienced owner to be in charge of training.
The Tibetan Mastiff is also likely to be aggressive or suspicious towards other people and animals. Early and regular socialisation is definitely compulsory, as well as supervision from the owner to prevent unwanted aggression. Barking may also be a potential behavioural problem.
The Tibetan Mastiff also sheds heavily, and is not an ideal pet for those allergic to dogs. These large dogs also slobber and take up quite a lot of room at home as well as in a car.
However, this breed is devoted to its owner and can make an excellent watchdog due to its protective instincts. Its exercise requirements and energy level is also lower than most other large breeds. The Tibetan Mastiff may be the right breed for you if you are looking for this type of dog or is interested in rare breeds, but you must bear in mind that they are prone to aggression, barking, shedding, slobbering and can be hard to train. It is highly recommended that you do further research on this breed before deciding to acquire one.
Yes. There isn't very many dogs you can not crossbreed, however, there's more that you shouldn't. In this case the German Shepard I would advise be the male since the great Pyrenees male may produce a puppy larger than the female Shepard can birth. Males primarily determine the size, while the female determines the number of offspring.
A French mastiff is correctly called a Dogue De Bordeaux and is smaller than a Mastiff.
Bullmastiffs are much bigger than labs. Labs are 60 to 88 pounds, while bullmastiffs weigh 100 to 133 pounds.
I would say a neo mastiff just because there more setteled down. from alex
The same age as any puppy around 8 weeks old
A rottweiler and a mastiff looks like a tibetan mastiff because tibetan mastiffs have thick coat furs that look like rottweilers.
8-12 years, I believe. If you exercise them and give them a good diet, they could live to 14, like Cesar Millan's Pitbull, Daddy.
