Why was Sasha Alexander's agent kate todd killed off did she want to leave the show?
When Kate Todd was killed off in NCIS many fans reacted with anger, asking why she had been "sacked" from the show.
The producer Donald Bellisario responded to this criticism by stating that Sasha Alexander had left the show voluntarily, at her own request. She had hot expected the show to last past the first year, and this was in fact the first show she had spent a second year with.
The fact that "she jumped" rather than that she "was pushed" might explain why the replacement character is so similar.
The producers knew what character they wanted in the lead female role, and so when she left they re-cast the role, but left the basic character mostly unchanged.
Having learnt from the past the producers perhaps realised that pulling a"Darrin Stephens" style swop (Dick York to Dick Sargent in Bewitched) with out trying to explain the change in actor would be result in the show losing credibility.

Nothing has happened to Jimmy Palmer. He is a regular member of the team Gibbs. Along with Ducky Mallard, he helps in the medical examination and autopsy of the victims corpses. In the past season, he got romantically involved with his girlfriend Breina and in Season 9, there are plans for Jimmy to marry her. In one of the episodes, he even tries to impress his prospective father in law by bringing him to the NCIS office.
