Every dog I have ever had has been taken at 5 weeks and they are very healthy. Some people also say if you take a puppy that early it causes problems with them biting and playing. What distinctive features of a sea otter?

Sea Otters can have some very strange physical characteristics such as they have no blubber, instead a very thick fur covers every inch of there bodies. Much like that of an underground animal sea otters consider smell more important than sight and high-sensitive whiskers and front paws are used more than sight in the hunting of prey.

Social characteristics of sea otters are rather odd. Each sex of an otter will join hands together and float on there backs in a big formation stretching from 10-100 otters on average. This formation is called a rompt or a raft. When a rompt of otters enters another's territory another otter will attempt to scare away the pack but fighting amongst these two rompts rarely occurs. During mating season the male will mark the females its mated to by biting its muzzle often leaving scars.

Why do otters sleep in water?

otters live near fresh water to clean the salt out of their fur. They do this to keep it waterproof, otherwise they would die of cold. Er ... no. Otters are aquatic mammals. They have webbing between their toes to help them swim better, and thick waterproof fur that they keep waterproof with their own body oil. They live near rivers and ponds and the ocean because they are aquatic - they eat fish and shellfish and other water animals. Otters are much more easily killed by predators like bears and bobcats when they are out of the water. A swimming river otter is nearly impossible for a predator to catch, though sea otters have more predators (like sharks) that can catch them. Otters enemies are few. The otter pups enemies are largely wolves, large birds of prey and large reptiles. The ability to swim and quick access to water, helps them save themselves. There is evidence that sea otters are being attacked by killer whales. The markings on otter carcasses matches dentition of the orca. Possibly there is evidence of shark attacks, but I am not sure.
