At this point, the only known side effect of oxycodone on a fetus is the potential for withdrawal once the baby is born. There is a chance of respiratory depression in the baby as well. Because there have been no controlled studies of this drug on pregnant women, the exact side effects are unknown. The only definitive source I could find for this topic was Mosby's drug reference pages; they state that there have been no side effects detected in animal-fetus studies (mainly on pregnant lambs). They do, however, go on to say that withdrawal and respiratory depression are possible. If you must use this medication while pregnant, please be responsible with it. Take it only when you need it and do not let yourself become abusive of it. Talk to your doctor about it and come to a decision together. Most MDs will base their decision on if the benefits of the drug for the mother will outweigh any risk to the fetus.

30mg of Percocet can kill a person who has no tolerance to the medication. Oxycodone will cause a decrease in respiration and the person can stop breathing.

Also, it is unsafe to take more than 1000mg of acetaminophen at a time, or more than 4000mg in a day. Taking more than this can damage the liver. Taking more than 7000mg of acetaminophen in a 24 hour period can cause liver failure. Keep in mind that once the liver is damaged, it will tolerate less acetaminophen.

The antidote given for acetaminophen overdose must be taken within 4 hours of ingestion, so it is important to seek emergency help right away.

Oxycontin and Oxycodone are the same thing. Oxycontin is made from Oxycodone. Oxycontin is time released so it continuously release the medicine and oxycodone is not time released. It depends on how much of each you take. Say if you take a 40 MG Oxycontin pill and and 4 Oxycodone 10/325, you feel the effects of the 4 oxycodone pills because the Oxycontin time released but they are the same thing. Whichever one you take more MG of will be stronger.

Vicodin is a similar drug, while not as strong, can have the same effects. I was given Percocet after having a surgery while Vicodin was prescribed with a crushed foot. I asked my doctor the same question, I will try to write this almost exactly how he explained it to me.

They are both pain relievers, but the Percocet is definitely more potent. They are two very different chemicals. Both contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). Your body turns both into Morphine in the blood. The Vicodin is mixed with a drug called Hydrocodone, While Percocet is mixed with Oxycodone (the ingredient in Oxycontin).

Both however are made from opiates and/ore synthetic opiates, so they have a high risk of dependance, possibly why your doctor has switched you. The Perocet is about 2-3x as strong as the vicodin, but will vary depending on the dosages.

Because of the variance in dosages and the difference in the chemicals, it does NOT mean that two or three vicodin are the same as one percoset, and can be quite dangerous, and could possibly have deadly consequences from taking too many.

The US does have a personal importation law that allows you to bring a 3 months supply of medications from abroad. The one thing you may want to consider is the "Neo Percodan" is not percodan. It is a weak version of Darvocet. You be better off with 100mg tramal (Ultram) than Propoxyphene of 65mg strength or less.

The important bit of information here is that any amount of oxycodone, mixed with any amount of alcohol, is *potentially* fatal.
