To make the best peach pie, use fresh peaches and cut them into pieces (strips are the most common). You can use canned peaches instead. Mix the peaches with sugar and cornstarch, and a bit of cinnamon if you like. Make the crust using flour and shortenlng, using a pastry cutter to get it to a crumbly texture. Add water, a bit at a time, until the crumbles stick together. Roll out the crust with a rolling pin and put it into a pie pan. Cut off the excess with a knife or just pinch it off. Add the filling. Roll out the top crust and place it over the topping. Pinch off the excess and 'flute" the edges. Sprinkle the top crust with sugar and cinnamon. Bake the pie for the specified time in the recipe.

To be honest with you i have never attempted to shave a peach but if i was using a recipe which called for shaved peaches i would simply cheat!......and use nectarines instead.... If you absolutely had to use shaved peaches if you place them in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water for a few minutes and leave them to cool ,the skins will rub off so easily. your question begs the question -WHY? i suppose you could simply use a dry new disposable razor
There are two common names for peaches, simply peach or nectarine

No; an Elberta will pollinate itself. if you want a better fruit set , plant another type of peach tree that blooms the same time as your Elberta. you will get cross pollination and inturn will get more peaches.
Yes, bugs get inside peach pits. Common peach pit invaders include catfacing insects, green June beetles, Japanese beetles, lesser peachtree borers, Oriental fruit moths, peachtree borers, plum curculio, scale, and shothole borers.
Peach pits do contain trace amounts of a cyanide compound. However in order to do any damage to yourself you would have t eat a lot of peach pits (theoretically). Peaches are not the only fruit to have cyanide related poisons, apple seeds, cherry seeds and Nectarines all have these poisons as well, although I hear tell the concentration is less.
Be wary- their is enough poison to do significant harm to small animals, and even cattle. Reports have been made of Cows eating fallen peaches and getting very sick or dying.
a pleach
The combination of a peach and a plum is 'pleach'
Nectarines often believed to be a crossbreed between peaches and plums, or a "peach with a plum skin", but they are not they belong to the same species as peaches.
A peach pit ring weighs just as much as a peach pit. It is not heavy @ ALL
Yes, they do belong to the same family.
They are both members of the genus Prunus.
The peach is Prunus persica.
The almond is Prunus dulcis.
The purpose of a flower is to help the plant reproduce.
No. A drupe is something fleshy with 1 seed. sometimes things we think are nuts are actually "drupes" in the views of a botanist. example would be an almond, it's thought to be a nut but it's really a drupe
a peach has a higher biotic potential because it takes longer for a peach to grow because of the tree.

I found a pdf from University of Illinois Extension that states that one pound of fresh peaches equals...
2-3 medium peaches
2 cups sliced
1 1/2 cups pureed
So if I reverse logic and do the math right, then 2 cups sliced is 1 pound and 4 cups sliced would be 2 pounds... So, 4 cups. Right?
Peach tree leaves are typically have a lanceolate shape and double-serration. They also feel glossy and thin.
Mario loves Princess Peach.
A lot of people do. I also know that Bowser and Wario like her.
