What are signs symptoms of conjunctivitis?
Allergic conjunctivitis is treated with anti-inflammatory eye drops. Gently bathing the eye and lashes with cooled boiled water may help.
Ok, I'd like to add something.. Yes, that may help. Conjunctivitis is caused either by allergies, or infection. But they are treated the same way. Conjunctivitis is when the conjunctiva, the outermost layer of the eye, and the inside of the eyelids become swollen. Symptoms are burning, itching, swelling, and you can feel like there is something in your eyes.
#1. DO NOT MESS WITH YOUR EYES. if you leave them alone, they won't bother you as bad. no matter how bad they itch, don't mess with them! it will do you no favors. #2. Boil 2 cups of water, and add 3 tablespoons of honey. Stir until honey dissolves. Remove from burner. Let cool. Once it is cool, use as eye drops with eyedroppers.
#3. Wet 2 chamomile or echinacea tea bags with cool water, and place one on each closed eye for 10-15 minutes. Echinacea burns a bit though, so I would go with chamomile. If you do not have echinacea or chamomile, any tea will do, but those are the best. #4. Wet a waschloth with hot water, and place on eyes for 10 minutes. This also works if you use a cold waschloth.
I have conjunctivitis now, so I know these things work!

What is conjunctivitis of both eyes called?
Well! It always depends on the area that you are staying and nearby hospitals would be an excellent option for eye conjunctivitis treatment. However, it is a blessing that nowadays, most hospitals have a pan-India presence or worldwide presence due to the online consultation system. Dr Basu Eye Hospital is the one that I feel is the best when it comes to treating eyes using Ayurvedic techniques.
Now coming to the most important part is which type of treatment is suitable for eye conjunctivitis. I have always been a fan of natural Ayurvedic medicine. Recently I was infected with conjunctivitis along with my whole family. While my family members could quickly get over it by following simple Ayurvedic treatment methods at home, I was the one whose symptoms got a little more aggravated. So, I had to connect with a doctor.
Viral conjunctivitis is highly contagious, so it's crucial to avoid direct contact with an affected person's eyes. The infection can quickly spread through surfaces like keyboards, doorknobs, makeup, pens, gym equipment, etc. If you find yourself around someone with viral conjunctivitis, it's best to maintain a safe distance, wash your hands frequently, and refrain from touching your own eyes to prevent the spread of the infection. Taking these precautions will help protect you and others from getting sick.
Know when to connect with a doctor:
You must know when it is essential for you to connect with a doctor and get eye conjunctivitis treatment done.
If your conjunctivitis does not improve within two weeks despite home remedies and simple Ayurvedic treatment, or if your symptoms worsen, it's essential to get in touch with your Ayurvedic doctor.
Immediate contact with your Ayurvedic doctor or an optician is necessary if you experience any of the following:
Pain inside your eyes
Sensitivity to light
Sudden changes in your vision
Consistent blurring of your vision
These signs may indicate a more severe issue with your eyes and should be addressed promptly.
For parents with a baby under one-month-old showing signs of conjunctivitis, contacting your Ayurvedic doctor or Hospital is crucial. Conjunctivitis in newborns can sometimes be severe, so timely attention is essential.
Ayurveda and conjunctivitis:
According to Ayurvedic medicine, conjunctivitis is termed "Netrabhishyanda," where the eyes are considered the portals to the soul. In Ayurveda, the eyes are closely associated with the Pitta dosha, specifically "aloha." When there is an excess of heat and other fire element characteristics, it can accumulate imbalances within the eyes, giving rise to symptoms like bloodshot and strained eyes, severe dryness, and reduced clarity of vision. It is essential to balance these energies to maintain optimal eye health and clarity of vision.
Ayurvedic treatment that I underwent: Netra Tarpana
The eyes can experience strain due to prolonged use, such as working on detailed designs or spending long hours staring at a computer screen. In such cases, providing your eyes with extra care and nourishment becomes essential. Ayurveda recommends a therapeutic technique called "Netra Tarpana" to address this issue. This treatment involves offering extra nutrition and rest to the eyes.
During Netra Tarpana, two therapists create a pool of pure ghee (organic clarified butter) over the eyes. The eyes comfortably rest in this pool of ghee. The treatment offers multiple benefits, including providing additional lubrication, imparting a cooling sensation, and nourishing and rejuvenating the eyes. It cleanses the delicate channels associated with inner and outer vision, enhancing overall perception and restoring clarity and brightness by expelling accumulated impurities in the eye region.
Moreover, Netra Tarpana can be highly effective in addressing early formation of cataracts and promoting eye relaxation, which aids in better sleep. It is employed in the treatment and management of conditions of Chronic Conjunctivitis and is the best eye flu treatment method. The therapy aims to optimize eye health and support visual well-being, making it a valuable approach in Ayurvedic eye care.
At Dr Basu Eye Hospital, the Ayurvedic doctors played an essential role in my recovery from conjunctivitis. They provided personalized and comprehensive treatment that resolved the conjunctivitis and offered several other benefits for my overall eye health.
The Ayurvedic doctors at Dr Basu Eye Hospital used a holistic approach that focused on curing the immediate problem and aimed to improve my eyes' overall health. Their expertise and personalized care played a significant role in my recovery and have positively impacted my eye health in the long run. I am genuinely grateful for their support and guidance throughout the healing process.

How does the pink eye start off and look?
I had pink eye on thanksgiving and it sucked. At first your eye isn't pink but once you get in the later stages it turns blood shot. Many times your tears may become snotty and build up alot of eye bugers. At first its pretty hard to detect pink eye by just looking at it, but once it starts hurting go to a docter or hospital and get some drops.
Can you take a shower having a pink eye?
I wouldn't in a public pool, simply because the chlorine will irritate they eye even further.
Using your own urine to treat pink eye is very efffective. Its takes only one or two drops. I've used this remedy on myself and my kids. There is no need for a doctor's prescription.
How long does pink eye stay contagious?
Common types of bacterial conjunctivitis have an incubation period of one to three days.
Do you have to have chlamydia to have chlamydia conjunctivitis?
Short answer is likely yes; unless an infected person touched an infected area and then touched your eye.
How do you know if you have pink eye?
If you have pink eye, there will be all this gunk on your eye when you wake up. You need to get it off by putting a warm rag on top of your eye and gently pat it till it melts off. THIS DOES NOT HURT. Also it will be kind of hard to open your eye when you wake up since all of that gunk is on it. Of course your eye will be pink and it will itch a little, but for some people it will not itch. Go to a doctor as soon as you think you have pink eye, because you need to get drops to put in your eye. You need to wash your hands every time that you rub or touch your eye, because this is extremely contagious! You will start feeling better or will be cured in about 3-7 days.
It can be. It is a symptom of an infection of the eye, and that infection should be treated. It is possible that an untreated infection can damage the eye. Pink eye is also very contagious, so if you do not treat it, you will probably give it to someone else.
Gentamicin eye drops or ointment can be used for pink eye?
No, gentamicin is a cheap drug that has a record of poisoning 1 in 20-25 patients with permanent "oscillopsia" typified by NO BALANCE SYSTEM, blurry vision, shortened lifespan, depression. Do NOT use gentamin under ANY circumstances. Question your doctors personal knowledge of gentamicin if they suggest to use it....they are ignorant of slightly more expensive [about $USD3-4 more per shot/dosage] modern high tech medicines that superseded gentamicin 25 plus years ago. Third world countries are renowned for using cheap drugs for obvious reasons. Countries/hospitals in Western Countries like USA, Australia, Greece, Spain still use gentamicin as it is a cheap alternative in dollars [but an expensive alternative in health].
How long should you wait to wear a new pair of contacts after having pink eye?
No. It's horrible for your eyes. The virus was spread onto your contact and you can't get it off with your regular solution. You need to buy new ones but you have to be 100% your pink eye is gone or you'll just damage another pair of contacts & your eye would get infected again.
Im just recovering from pink eye & unfortunaly from all the research I've read, I cant wear contacts. Which sucks, Believe me.
What do you when you have pink eye?
Pink eye can be transferred between people, so avoid rubbing your eyes and touching things. Wash your hands frequently to avoid spreading it. If you have not seen your doctor, do so. Your doctor will most likely prescribe eye drops or allergy medication. Applying a warm compress to your closed eye may soothe the pain.
Can you be in the sun with pink eye?
Yes! It's ok to watch t.v. it's not going to harm you or cause it to get worse. Pink eye will cause sensativity to the light in some cases but it's actually not harmful. It takes about 8-10 days to get over it. It's mostly just very annoying..try not to scratch it! It will just make it itch more. "this is coming from someone with pink eye...right now." And it's not my first time. Now, Go watch T.V.
Can you use saline solution for pink eye?
Yes, especially in the early stages of treatment, pink eye will still be very contagious. Drops will help slow the infection, but they will take time to fully cure it. Pink eye can easily be spread to others, so you should make sure you wash your hands, avoid rubbing your eyes, use clean towels, and take all of the medication your doctor prescribes. If you still have symptoms after completing the use of the eye drops, you may have a more resistant form of the illness and you may need another course of medication. On the other hand, pink eye is nearly always treated successfully, and if you follow the directions your doctor gives you, you should not have any problems from it.
Can conjunctivitis make you go blind?
