This depends on the house rules you are playing at. In most house rules you can make your straight flush this way, in some you can not.

Best thing to do is to ask the house rules regarding these types of games before starting to play, this to avoid losing pots due to the lack of information about the house rules.

I guess, kind of. It is popular right now... and the popularity might fade and be replaced with another type of poker. But if the popularity lasts and doesn't go away, then people probably won't call it a fad... they'll call it a classic. :)

Texas Hold'em has been around for a long time, I was dealing it in Las Vegas 30 years ago, it recently became hugely popular because of the WSOP tournaments shown on TV. In a way it is a fad, in another it is already a classic.

Technically you play it the same as if you are playing with 6 or 9 people.

The dealer distributes each player 2 cards (assuming you are playing Texas Hold'Em). The dealer is always the Big Blind.

Other then these rules, the game runs in the same way as 6 or 9 handed poker.

Everything else is the same. Just deal cards to 2 players instead of the amount you usually play with. It is also known as heads-up.

I am not sure why you are asking this question. There is no reason why not to play poker in the jungle but if you are thinking of playing strip poker then beware of areas snakes do not usually have to luxury to bite.

Chinese is a game is played with four players but can be played three handed or heads up. Each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck. Players must arrange their cards into three poker hands: the front (three cards), the middle (five cards), and the back (five cards). Straights and flushes do not count for the front. The back five cards must be the strongest hand of the three, the middle five must be second strongest, and the front three must be the weakest. Another way to play is to have the middle hand be played with a deuce to seven lowball hand (with the best hand being 7, 5, 4, 3, 2). Once arranged, the cards are then placed face down on the table until all players have set their hands. Players turn the cards face up, and the money is awarded in terms of "points".

Points are the stakes at which the game is being played and can be set at any amount. Each player compares their hands to each individual player. The players compare corresponding hands. Players win two points if they win two out of three hands and additional points are often awarded for winning all three hands against your opponents, which is called getting "scooped." When players tie hands there are different ways of scoring. For example if one player wins two hands and ties the third they win 3 points instead of the normal 4 for scooping. Another aspect of the game is royalties, which are automatic rewards for making certain types of hands, such as straight flushes.

The first one, for instance A-K-Q-J-2 will beat another suit of A-K-Q-10-9 because you disregard highest ties until you find whose highest untied card is higher.

Same thing, with, for instance, straights. A 2-3-4-5-6 straight beats an A-2-3-4-5 straight etc.

If you're playing Texas Hold-em, or another variant where you have more than 5 cards in play per person, only the best 5 cards are evaluated, so if the common cards showing are A-A-A-A-K, then it doesn't matter what other "extra" cards a player has. In cases like those, you'll split the pot.
