User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I think It is The roof that protects them & Is more safe. I might be wrong but, I'm studing about the Gabrielino tribe. Also known as Tongva People ;). Sorry if this is wrong... I think they use twigs and dried grass to make the huts or the roofs as shelters. The mud they put on keeps it sterdy and also puts them neatly together. They use a roof and shelter to survive in the past. Native Americans were the first people to arrive on America. ;)

Did the pomo tribe use bow and arrows?

User Avatar

Asked by Johnmami

Almost all native American tribes used the bow and arrow for hunting and warfare. The Modoc of the Tule Lake area in southern Oregon and north California were no exception.

The Modoc may have been a very poor tribe but they realised that guns were much more effective than bows traded for muskets, rifles and revolvers when these became available from the White traders and many became expert marksmen with the new weapons.

What American Indian tribe is the most fierce?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That would be totally subjective. If a tribe was fighting for their families, they would be unbelievably fierce. The Pequots were known to be fierce fighters. So were the Cheyenne, the Apache and the Commanches. There were thousands of tribes that, given the right time and circumstances, would have been called the fiercest fighters.

What did the Pomo Indians wear?

The clothes of the Pima were practically identical to those of their neighbours the Papago and Maricopa.

Men wore a very small breechclout of tanned hide or cotton, with almost no flaps. Leggings of deerskin were gartered below the knee. Shirts were very rare as the climate was far too hot for such items. Later, some men adopted Mexican-style white cotton trousers and a red cotton breechclout (a favourite colour among the Pima) attached to a wide cloth belt.

Women originally wore a wraparound deerskin skirt, or a one-piece fringed fibre skirt over some kind of padding, giving the effect of a bustle. After contact with missionaries, they wrapped their bodies in a length of cotton fabric, like a sarong. Later still, red cotton blouses were obtained from traders.

No footwear was generally used, except for long journeys when sandals of rawhide or twisted willow bark were used.

Cotton or rabbit skin blankets were used at night, some black-and-white striped blankets were traded from the Hopi.

Both men and women wore their hair long and loose, without headbands or hats; some men wore a kind of turban made of long woven bands.

Girls were tattooed at puberty with three black vertical lines below the mouth. For ceremonies, women painted vertical white stripes on their cheeks.

Compare and contrast bacon's rebellion and king philip's war?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Nathaniel Bacon and a group of landless frontiersman opposed Govern Berkley of Jamestown for his high taxes and how for his favoritism towards the large plantation owners. Bacon also demanded for war against the Native Americans for he wished to gain some more land for new plantations in which farmers could work off of. Berkeley had refused to react to the claims of the people about how the Indians were committing murders and thefts on the frontier, he was making a good profit from trading with the Indians and was not ready for that to be ended by a war. Berkley's refusal sparked Bacon's Rebellion in 1676 which resulted in the burning of Jamestown. However, Bacon's death resulted in the end of his rebellion and Jamestown quickly but took large steps against tyranny.

Reason for King Philips War can be put at short. The Native Americans defined land ownership differently; they believed that land should be shared by everyone, not individuals as believed by the settlers. With the growth of many Puritan colonies, many Natives were forced from their land. Angered, the leader of the Wampanoag, Metacom, formed alliances with local tribes in attempt to reclaim their land. However many of them died and others were sold in to slavery, ending the majority of resistance from many native tribes.

Although this may not be the straight up answer you're looking for, I placed these events as blatantly as I could so that you could see their connections easier. In summary, the major relation between these two events in my opinion are the rises against tyranny and the want for land.
