What happens when guys go through puberty?

Puberty development is measured using something called the Tanner Scale. It uses two different indicators, genital development (penis and testicles in boys) and pubic hair. A number 1-5 is assigned to each one, and written with a G (genital stage) and P (pubic hair stage). For example, from the time we are born until puberty starts we are G1 P1, meaning there has been no genital development and no pubic hair development. These two things occur independently so the stages might be the same (G3 P3) or they might be different (G3 P2, for example). The first sign of puberty in boys is an increase in the size of the testicles and they hang lower, or "drop." When this happens he is in G2 and is probably without hair so he is P1. Most boys don't even notice this because they think of penis size and hair as the first signs. It can happen anywhere from age 9 to 14 and each stage lasts for about a year. In G3 the testicles continue to grow, the scrotum starts to get darker in color, and the penis starts to lengthen. This is usuall the first sign he notices and he's already well into it. At the same time, hair usually starts to grow at the base of the penis and he enters P2. When both of these things happen he knows he's in puberty. Also during G3, sperm and semen production usually starts so he might notice nocturnal emissions (wet dreams) or ejaculation from masturbation. This is also the time of the start of the growth spurt. In P3 the hair that had been only at the base of his penis begins to move outward toward the thighs and hair begins to grow on the scrotum. In G4 the testicles reach their full size, the penis continues to get longer and also gets thicker. Sometime around this time his voice will begin to change. In P4 the hair will spread closer to his thighs, the scrotum will be almost completely covered, and it will start growing upward in a triangle shape toward his belly button. Armpit hair and the first signs of facial hair. G5 P5 everything is completed (adult stage). Penis and testicles have reached their maximum size, growth spurt is just about over, facial hair is almost complete (although this can continue to increase for a few more years). Pubic hair has reached its adult pattern. Since each stage takes around a year, average for this is about four years after it begins.

What do boys do during puberty?

When puberty ends?

At the end of puberty, boys will have a deep voice, notice their emotions are controllable, and become less easily aroused (fewer involuntary erections), and other major physical changes such as hair growth.

Is it normal for a 12-year-old to have an erection if he reads or thinks about something he wants that doesn't have to do with sex?

of course it is. from about 12 to like 16 you get erections all the time for no apparant reason. just trust me. Even girls have something like that. I could get all excited physically at that age while being mentally focused on science books. Or all aroused out of frustration about unfinished homework. The brain`s location for frustration and pleasure seem to be close together.

How does the brain change during adolescence?

how does the way you think change during adolescence.

The brain grows bigger as your head grows, this happens quicker during puberty and causes thoughts to become scrambled and confusing. You drop things more often as you are uncoordinated. You begin to get adult thoughts of a sexual nature too. You also think you know everything during this time.
