In general, it's not easy at all. Record labels can't survive without selling records. If your music is not good enough to sell records, then you probably wont be signed to a label. Generally it takes years of making music, and performing shows and selling cds. Thise shows labels that you can earn, and make you more likely to get signed.

On the other hand you have talentless kids like Justin beener or whoever that made a youtube video and now they have a record deal. Is the record deal he has good? Not at all, but he has it.

First you need to write a couple songs(so you actually have something for the label to look for). Then you need record your songs(with a video camera or web cam)and put your songs on Youtube. Note: Make sure your web cam/video camera is high quality, this will help you get more people to listen to your music. You can also put up videos on MySpace videos and AOL videos. A lot of times labels will look for people like you on Youtube, so make sure your music is good... Advertise yourself(if you are a solo artist)or your band! Remember the more time you put in to your music the better chance a label will find you.

I don't know either, but I think that if you go onto one of the label websites there might be a link. Look out for they're scouts, too.

The company cannot say that they don't want you any more they have to somehow break the contract and unless they actually dropped everything including the company name then you or anyone else have nothing to worry about.

Columbia Records. Their first album (It's About Time)wasn't of much success, so the label dropped them. Not too long after, though, were they discovered by Hollywood Records, their current label.
