What animal would eat a red eared slider?

Generally the answer is a conditional yes. It is an isolated answer, some turtles wont get along with each other (hey like people). You should only keep the same type of turtles together ie. Aquatic Turtles, semi aquatic, and terrestrial etc. You should always do a trial run. Its not recommended to keep opposite sexes together because the male will bite at the female a lot. Unless you are a breeder you also can guess what can happen.

If the new addition will have tank mates, it would be a good idea to quarantine the turtle for 3 months before they are introduced. A hatchling should never be added with adult turtles because of accidental or intentional injuries. Only turtles of a generally similar size with similar habitat requirements should be together in a confined enclosure.

Having the appropriate habitat and a variety of commercial and live foods will help your new addition make an easier transition. If this is a captive turtle to begin with, then the transition should be much quicker and your RES will be better adjusted. It might take a few days for a new turtle to adjust and become familiar with its surroundings. During this time, your RES might not be very active or too active, bask, or interact with you and could easily be startled. It is best to leave the turtle alone but regularly provide food and check to see your RES is not sick.

Can a red eared slider be owned by a child?

Yes, red-eared sliders make good pets for children, because they require less maintenance and responsibility than a cat or dog. But make sure the child knows not to kiss or lick the turtle, and to wash their hands before and after touching it. Turtles can carry diseases like salmonella, and they can also get sick from the germs humans carry.

No, squash is not what Red Eared Sliders should eat, they probably won't eat it anyway. You can feed him turtle pellets, live feeder fish, small snails, live turtle safe aquatic plants and occasionally supplement his diet with hard boiled eggs, cooked chicken, raw ground beef, and soggy dog food.

When to put a red eared slider back in to a pond?

It really depends on why you took it out in the first place! When you say "back in to a pond" I assume you are referencing to having taken them out for a specific purpose or reason, in which case I would say put them back in when you are ready the issue has past. If you are talking about how long they can be out of water, I'd say max 4-6 hours.

How many red-eared slider turtles can live in a 20 long?

Only baby RES can be housed in a tank that small. But, for many you can keep in there, I'd say two baby RES. But, do realize that you will need a bigger tank, because a full grown male will need a 75 gal, and a full grown female will need at least a 120 gal. If you can't afford this you can always get a stock tank or a plastic container bigger than 55 gallons.
