remembrance day started when world war one ended. John McCrae wrote the poem Flanders fields after witnessing the loss of one of his closest friends. Flanders field is known for it's poppies. thus the poppy symbol. so every year we celebrate, and pray, and take a minute to "remember" how those brave soldiers sacrificed their lives for their country. hope this answers ur question! :)
Is Veterans Day the same thing as remembrance day?

In general, an Armistce is an agreement between waring sides to stop the fighting, but is not an agreement to make peace, nor is it necessarily an indication of victory by one side or surrender of another. When is remembrance day and when is it celebrated?
