Along the I=10 corridor, our favorite place to stop is Balmorhea State Park near Balmorhea, Texas. Built around a natural wetland and spring, there is a pool with a natural bottom. We see people training for SCUBA diving in the pool. The pool looks like a manmade swimming pool with cement sides and walkways but the bottom is open and you will have fish nibbling at your toes if you sit on the edge with your feet in the water. We are usually just traveling through in our motor home so we haven't spent more than one night. The park features RV camping and also has motel rooms available. The grounds are very nice and include streams and a wetland habitat. There is a viewing window to see into one of the ponds. In warmer weather, there are bats that sleep in the tile roofs of the ramadas by each campsite and we enjoy watching them take off for their nightly forays. Judith from AZ
