Roller Derby
Roller derby is a full contact sport played by two teams of five players roller skating in the same direction around an oval track. The sport began in 1935 but began to lose popularity after the 80s. In 2001, the Texas Roller Derby (TXRD) was founded, rejuvenating the sport. The sport is made up of mostly women, but men's leagues are becoming increasingly popular. There are now over 1,200 leagues around the world and it may be a sport featured in the 2020 Olympics.

What is the best roller derby knee protection?
I wear Triple 8 pads, but I think most girls on my league prefer 187s. The general consensus seems to be that Protec pads are not very good.
I always recommend you custom order. It doesn't necessarily have to cost more and you don't need to trade out as many parts later. My favorite is a carera boot and always get a cheap metal plate (never plastic) wheels and bearings are the parts you update based on how much you want to spend and your tastes. Get the fastest bearings you can afford and choose whatever wheels appeal to you, but stick with a metal hub if you are going to be hard on the skates. Your local rink should help you order and assemble.
