Largest hollow cube you could get from 1 cm cubes?
The answer depends on how many 1 cm cubes you start off with. If you had n cubes then the largest hollow cube is a k-cube where k^3 <= 6n^2 - 12n + 8
How do you calculate the number of permutations of a Rubik's Cube depending on the amount of pieces?
For a 3x3x3 Rubik's cube,
there are 8 corners, each with 3 sides
each of the 8 corners can have 8permutations(placements/positions), and therefore it is 8!(eight factorial, or 8^8)
each of the 8 corners can have 3 orientations, and therefore it is 3^8
There are 12 edges, each with 2 sides.
Each of the 12 edges can have 12 permutations, and therefore it is 12!
Each of the edges can have 2 orientations, and that means that it is 2^12
the equation is
8!*3^8*12!*2^12
=519 024 039 293 878 272 000
(519 quintillion if you're too lazy to read it)
but only 1/12 combinations are possible without taking apart the cube
so
519 024 039 293 878 272 000/12
=43 252 003 274 489 856 000
OR
8! corner permutations
3^8 orientations, but the last corner's orientation depends on the other 7's, so it is really 3^7
12! edge permutations, but since there is an even permutation of corners, the edges are even, too so 12!/2
2^12 edge orientations, but the last edge depends on the preceding edge's orientation, so 2^11
8!*3^7*12!/2*2^11=43 252 003 274 489 856 000

It would depend on the store itself; you're more likely to find one at WalMart.
What did the first rubik's cube look like?
Like a regular Rubik's Cube now, except for a different logo, it was slightly more blocky, and It possibly had a different colour scheme.

What is the rubix cube world record in 2009?
Toby Mao (USA) was the person, the place was US Championship, the year was 2009, and the time was 10.48!!
How many people in the world can solve a rubik cube?
Well there's roughly 6.5 billion people in the world and (only 5%) of the world can slove it so that makes it only 325,000,000 people out of 6,500,000,000!
Hope this helped.i love cubes but are really hard
Can the Jonas Brothers solve a rubiks cube?
Solving a Rubriks Cube is not a measure of intelligence since some of the smartest people on this planet can't/couldn't solve one. I am not defending the Jonas Brothers but I do think that they could if they knew how the logic of a Rubriks cuve works.
2x2 Rubik's Cube but it is missing pieces what do you do?
Buy a new one? There may be individual parts sold on a website that sells cubes, but I'm not sure if that's available for a 2x2.
How do you switch 2 edge pieces on a Rubik's Cube?
It is IMPOSSIBLE to do that without also switching two corner pieces in the process. Look up T-permutation.
How can I solve a 2x2x2 rubik's cube with only 2 algorithims?
You only need two of the algorithims needed to solve a 3x3x3 to solve a 2x2x2. Okay so first you need to solve one colored face (one side of one color). I'm gonna use white as an example. First, I would recommend getting all the pieces with white on them on one side. You have to make sure that the corners correspond though. For example, if I have the white-red-blue corner, I need to make sure that the white-blue-orange corner is next to it. Not nessecerily oriented correctly, but there none the less.(by 'oriented correctly' I mean flipped the correct way.) Once you have all the corners, you use this algorithim to flip them to be oriented properly. Ri Di R D Right inverted, Down inverted, Right, Down. Inverted meaning a counterclockwise turn. It's very simple. When I say right I mean you turn the face on your right counterclockwise, turn the bottom face counterclockwise, turn the right face clockwise, and finally turn the bottom face clockwise. IMPORTANT: YOU HAVE TO DO THE LAST STEP. SOMETIMES PEOPLE DO NO DO THE LAST TURN ON THE BOTTOM FACE. YOU NEED TO DO THIS STEP OR MESS UP THE ENTIRE THING LATER. Now you should have got the white face solved. Meaning you should have one entire face white, and the entire first layer solved. If you do great! Turn the cube over so the side you just solved is on the bottom. NOw we have to place the final corners in the correct spots but not oriented correctly. First try to find a corner already in the correct spot. If you can't find one just move the top layer until you have one in the right spot, but not oriented correctly. Hold the cube so the corner that is correctly placed corner is in the bottom left hand corner. Now here's the second and last algorithim you need. U R Ui Li U Ri Ui L Keep doing that algorithim until your corners are placed correctly. Once you have them all placed correctly, you can do the first algorithim again. Now it may look like you messed up the white face. It all magically comes together in the end. Keep doing that first algorithim until you solved all the corners. Key to doing this step is the very last turn in the algorithim. The last turn on the down side. Congrats, you should have solved your 2x2x2 cube! If not, try again. If it doesn't work a second time, try different directions.
Can you show the Rubik's cube solutions?
Download the rubix cube app on your iPhone for a dollar. You can then enter how your cube looks like and you will get instructions on how to solve it in around 20 moves.
Yes because it challenges your brain and you have to think 3 dimensionally
How much does a rubik's cube cost to make?
They cost about 10 dollars. Or completely free from http://www.cubelagoon.com/?ref=1285 Basically, you answer surveys to gain points and then use those points to claim prizes. Such as a rubiks cube. Its 100% free. I've gotten a 3x3 white cube and a 4x4 rubiks cube from here. Its very fast.
What did people first think about the rubik's cube?
When the Rubik's Cube first came out in late 1974, it quickly became known as the best children's toy ever...
And to this day, it is still known as such.

How do you do the checkerboard pattern on the Rubik's Cube?
It's very simple. Just:
Rotate the face up on the right two times. Rotate the face up on the left two times. Rotate the top face clockwise two times. Rotate the bottom face clockwise. Or in other words:
R-R-Li-Li-F-F-Bi-Bi-U-U-Di-Di
As You Can Do The Cube® says, it's actually called the Multicolored Cross. There are many other patterns, such as the Square in the Middle.
There are numerous programs written to simulate and solve matrix problems like the Rubik's cube, in three dimensions or more. You would need one of those programs.
