The lower leg muscles tibialis anterior, peroneals andgastrocnemius (calf) support the foot and affect the movement of the foot. -it's less boring

- it usually offers more natural variation which tend to make outside a better workout.

OTOH outside can be too hot/cold/rainy/sunny/scarytraffic/dark etc etc, in which case a treadmill workout is better than no workout.

Both are great choices and there is no reason to actually go with another since the main point is that you are doing cardio. Also, if you are doing the exercise without actually correcting your diet, then it doesn't matter whether or not you cycle or jog - both don't affect weight loss, which means that diet plays an important role too and shouldn't be forgotten.

Essentially, the higher your heart rate during physical activity, the more calories you will burn. For example, sprinting 400 yards will burn more calories than jogging 400 yards. So how long it takes to burn the 600 calories will depend on how hard you are able/willing to work.

At a continuous, moderate running pace - assuming fairly average physical dimensions of the person - buring 600 calories should take about an hour.
