Samoa

We celebrate births, weddings, birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and basically any holiday. As for Samoan celebrations, we celebrate the ending of the work of the 'sugaimiti' and 'malu', Samoan tattoos, on a man or woman, respectively. We call it the 'semaga.' We also celebrate Flag Day; we host many parties, sports, dances, and competitions between villages, schools, and churches. Our 21st year of life is another major day in a Samoan's life so we celebrate it with a huge gathering of family and friends with a feast that'll feed a whole village, which is a basically the point. We are given a wooden key with our picture on it. It's about as big as a toy rifle.

Tony is not a Samoan name so would not have a translation in the Samoan language. If a Samoan boy was named Tony, his family would simply call him Tony.

There is no Samoan word for beutiful soul...but to something similar to it is "Lotolelei" which, translated in English means "good heart".

According to the CIA World Factbook, substantial income is received annually from the Tuvalu Trust Fund (TTF) an international trust fund established in 1987 by Australia, NZ, and the UK and supported also by Japan and South Korea. Thanks to wise investments and conservative withdrawals, this fund grew from an initial $17 million to an estimated value of $77 million in 2006. The US Government is also a major revenue source for Tuvalu because of payments from a 1988 treaty on fisheries. Tuvalu also derives royalties from the lease of its ".tv" Internet domain name with revenue of more than $2 million in 2006.
