What is the best brand of longboards?

There are a lot of good brands of skateboards i.e. Chocolate, Girl, Zero, Real, Anti-Hero, Roger, Stereo, Given, Agents In Red.

Bad brands i.e. World Industries, Enjoi, Darkstar,Almost, Blind several of these brands used to be the best brands but after they got so big they started having their decks made in China to make a larger profit margin....In other words they are sellout brands.

But i think its most about personal preference. My favorite is probably Real because they have a very precise inspection process and deeper concave and stiffer wood and glues .

What skateboards are the lightest?

Plan B is very light and so is almost. Zero boards are heavy and Darkstars are very heavy but Black Labels are pretty light. Same with enjoi.
-- Element's Fiberlight series is maybe the lightest 7 ply out there. but they break so i would go with the almost.

Santa Cruz makes a Power Lyte line that's one of the lightest and strongest I've owned. It's 6ply maple and a top ply of fiberglass. They get superior pop.

Is skateboarding an Olympic sport?

For the 2008 Games, no, but the International Olympic Committee has held discussions about introducing a skateboarding event for the 2012 Games in London. A final decision will probably come in late 2009 or early 2010.

What is skateboard wax made of?

Ski wax starts off with either a hydrocarbon or fluorocarbon wax. Fluro adds water-repelling power, but is worse for the environment.

Manufactures can then add lots of additives to improve speed, including additional fluorinated ingredients, graphite, molybdenum, or other powders. All of those powders decrease friction, either due to water or static electricity.

How is skateboarding dangerous?

The only dangerous thing about skateboarding is the fact that you can fall off most of the stuff you skate on. If your a beginner skater, I would say the most dangerous thing you should worry about is falling off. If you are a skater that uses rails, curbs, does a lot of grinding, a lot of vert, and can do a lot of good "tricks" I would say to worry about protecting your head, elbows, and knees. There is a lot of safety equipment out there. Some of these include: * Helmet * Knee pads * Elbow pads ----

How wide is a Tech Deck?

They last somewhat long. Mine lasted probably a few weeks before the grip tape really wore down, and the trucks get loose pretty fast but mainly if you are kind of rough with them. I have broken one, but not because of doing tricks. Either way, they are a lot of fun.

Who did the most kickflip?

I set the Guinness World Record on Nov, 30, 2008. 1546 without coming off my board. It took over 3 hours. You can google me or search the Guinness site. My name is Zach Kral. I also have the record for the most kick flips in 1 minute at 29.

The 1546 record appeared in the 2010 Guinness Book. The Most in 1 Minute is in the 2012 Guinness Book.

Is an inward varial heelflip a real skateboarding trick?

yes a hippie ollie is a real trick. its just where your riding and you jump up and land on your skateboard. the skateboard stays on the ground but u jump. very different from an ollie.

How do you do a 50-50?

  • 1) Learn to Ollie and get comfortable with ollieing while moving at a high rate of speed.

  • 2) find a ledge or rail to 50-50.

  • 3) Go fast and approach the object however you want to. Some people come at a 45 degree angle and some come directly at it in line with the direction they will 50-50.

  • 4) keep your eye on the spot where you want to lock onto the object.

  • 5) Ollie and lock your trucks onto the object.

  • 6) Stand up straight and keep your balance.

  • 7) spot your landing and stick it.

  • 8) ride away and then take a victory run.

Whos the best skateboarder in the world?

    The Best Skateboarder

It depends on if you are talking about "best". There are two possible ways to measure how good a skateboarder is: by contest wins or how innovative they are or do really crazy (scary) tricks like huge gaps, stairs, rails, jumps like Danny Way, etc.

Also, you have to ask, "Are we talking about street, vert, or both?" For vert contests, I think the consensus would be Tony Hawk. He won almost every contest he entered in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. A lot of that had to do with him being the only guy to do 720s for years and years (and the first to do it). To see other tricks he invented watch "Ban This", because he worked a lot of those into his runs as well (540 ollies, or no-handed McTwists, varial McTwists, etc.). Christian Hosoi was the 2nd best in terms of contests I'd guess, because he would go so big on everything he did and had tons of style. Not as technical, but still rad and winning contests a lot.

Nowadays, since Tony doesn't enter contests much (if at all) the most innovative guys would probably be Bob Burnquist and Danny Way. Buckey Lasek would be a close third. And Paulo Diaz from Brazil would be another guy like the Hosoi of today going big everytime, but also fairly technical. Danny Way brought us the super ramp (see the D.C. video) and Bob Burnquist usually rips on best trick contests. Bob brought us the full pipe, or if it wasn't him it was probably Hawk.

As for street, there are fewer contests and more guys ripping it up. Don't forget the girls too. Elissa Steamer on Toy Machine was the first breakout, sick chick skater I ever saw (see Toy Machine video Welcome to Hell I believe).

For guys, Ryan Sheckler is the "it" boy because he's consistent and super dialed in and "marketable" so the media loves him. Before his growth spurt he was pulling huge, sick tricks in a pint-sized package. Now he's average sized and still able to rip.

For technical, non-contest dudes see Rodney Mullen and Daewon Song. They are the most technical street skaters around in my opinion. For mini-ramp, check out the video Cheese and Crackers with Daewon and Chris Haslam because they reinvent it.

I skate mini-ramps better than street, and have pulled some tricks like frontside ollie noseblunt slides to nollie 180s back in, Caballerial no-handed nosepicks, and fakie 270 shove-its to frontside 5-0s to fakie, and let me say that none of those touch the tricks on this video. Sick!

Bastien Salabanzi is also sick over in Europe. Really, there are too many dudes to name on a site like this, because for every name I think of, there are 50 more that pop in my head of rippers who deserve props. That's the problem with a 'Who's the best question.' It's not a questions that jives with the skateboarding mentality. I know since I've skated since 1984 and I'm 33 now. The best things about skaters are that they question everything, they create and innovate, they're persistent when it comes to tricks that are scary or difficult to land, and there's a brotherhood among fellow skaters where you applaud the easy trick it if was tough for the skater who did it.

Are riser pads and shockpads the same thing?

no. riser pads are hard plastic that are mainly designed to give you more pop. shock pads also give some pop, but not much. the big difference is that shock pads greatly reduce the amount of pressure cracks you'll see in the deck. if you need to make a deck last for awhile, shock pads are the way to go.

    How do you kickflip stairs?

It's easier to kick flip just on flat because it will not hurt as much if you had fallen off down stairs. To kick flip off stairs you'll have to have a lot of speed to actually clear the steps clean and you will have to suppress your legs to absorb the impact so just stick to kick flips on the ground for now.

What are the aerodynamics of a skateboard?

The aerodynamics of a skateboard is the air that flow under and over the board. Example: when doing an ollie the pop at the tail of the board + the air pushing under it + the force from the front foot going up makes the board go airbourne into the ollie. The higher you bring your knees up, the farther up the board goes.
