The socket size required to remove the cylinder head bolts on a Škoda Favorit is typically 13mm. However, it's always advisable to double-check the specific model year and engine variant, as there might be slight variations. Using a high-quality socket and a torque wrench is recommended to avoid rounding the bolts.

The engine from Skoda pick up is almost of the same size of the original gas engine with 1289 CC, so you have no problem from this side, but you have to take care of a couple of things.

What you must do is to remove the engine mount from the body and replace it with the one from the pick up and make sure to weld it exactly where it has to be " The best in this case is to mount the engine on the body and weld the mount thereafter ". I don't remeber what else I did with the other mounts, it's been long ago, but you find out. You have of course to make the changes on the electrical connection necessary to get into the diesel system, like to connect the relais of the diesel heater, you have of course to get the yellow warning lamp on the instruments " The one that glows for a while to show readiness to start the engine.

I moved the same instruments from the pick up to the Favorit, but I changed also the dash board completely, and the seats also " just to make the good color match".

The project was successful but took around 200 hours to get ready, it was for me a challenge and I achieved it.

According the the Haynes Manual (No. 1801, Skoda Favorit 1989-1996) the bolts should be tightened to between 17 and 20 Nm. Once all are tightened to this torque they should then be tightened a quarter turn each, and then another quarter turn each.

The manual also quotes a torque of 20-23Nm for the cylinder head nuts.

Piston ring fault. Common on 1.4 16v Fabia engine code AUB. Note that the combustion gasses will cause blowby on piston blowing excessive oil vapour up the crankcase breather pipe and into air intake system on cars with this. You will see excessively dirty throttle body. Oil consumption will also be excessive.
