The S&W Model 64 is the Stainless Steel version of the "blued finished" Carbon Steel S&W Model 10 .38 special. Both revolvers are "K" frames. There are 5 frame sizes in the S&W revolver line up. The "J" frames are the smallest. The "K" frames are the medium service size. The "L" frame are a beefed up frame version of the "K" with a full barrel length ejector shroud. The "N" frame used to be S&W largest revolver frame. The "N" frame supports .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44/40, .44 Special, .44 Magnum,and .45 Long Colt. The very similar, but fancier 41 goes used for about 600-1000. A new 41 lists for about 1200 the last time I chec ked.The 46 was a less

polished version designed for the military with plastic grips, but is more rare, so in perfect condition it is

worth at least 1000 depending on barrel length. The shorter barrels are rarer.

I have one ( an airforce model 46) where I replaced the grips with nice rosewood looks better than the GI version.

this is very controversial subject my father believes a 9mm is a great defense weapon. the problem i have with this caliber is that it velocity is to fast, this means the bullet has the opportunity to travel straight through the target and hit what ever is behind the target. a 45 is slower and heavier bullet. this means that when the bullet hits the target, it delivering all of its kinetic energy when it hits the target. Allowing the shooter to use one bullet rather than 2 or 3 bullets from the 9mm

The 9 mm is good for killing from a long distance, but yea if your getting attacked an you shoot the attacker it will take him down.

38 special is only a revolver caliber. that's like saying a 44 magnum revolver or a 500 special revolver. a revolver is a revolver

Not much. This was a Saturday night special that became illegal in most states (too cheaply made). I bought a new one about 1969 for $ 12.95. I shot it a few times but could not hit a gallon bucket from 20 feet. I am scared to shoot it now, might blow up. If the every have a gun buy back around here I will turn it in.
