That is Scott number US 2047. It has a minimal value and can be purchased for $1,35 in mint condition and 15 cents used.

You are probably looking at the Green 1 cent Scott number 1209 or 1225 which were issued in 1962. They have minimal value and would cost you 15 cents used or mint from a dealer. A dealer probably wouldn't even consider buying one from you, you'd be better off using it for postage.

In mint condition a 6 cent stamp is worth 6 cents (maybe less) for common US postage.

However, the collecting value can vary considerably, there are a very few, very old stamps that are worth hundreds of dollars. Most however are going to cost a few cents and the sale value will be small.

This stamp is not at all rare, but is over 60 years old, so mint copies are not

as common as they were and 2 cents was not the regular first class rate,

although unsealed cards went at that rate.

Dealers buy them as part of larger lots for almost nothing per stamp- 65% face and

1/2 cent if used. The money they would charge you for it is mostly for labor.

I think it is a nice stamp and I would certainly keep a nice copy for my collection. If you have more than one, maybe you can trade it for another similar stamp .

If they aren't cancelled how would we know they are a first issue page? If you mean a sheet of the Elvis Stamps, they can still be used for face value of postage. You might be able to sell the sheet for about twice the face value.

No, in fact statistically speaking they are the most common one now since they were recently released. The mintage for them is pretty much the same as all of the others but it takes a while for them to circulate around to some places. So, because you haven't been seeing them doesn't mean they're rare, it just takes a while for them to get there.

The postage value is 15 cents. The value to a collector is going to be about the same if it is mint, but less if used.

Yes, they certainly are collectible. In some cases, a canceled stamp is worth more than a mint one. Most instances this would be for a stamp on an envelope where the entire cancellation can be clearly read. Some collectors prefer used stamps as they are less expensive and less likely to get damaged.

Postal use of some issues are very rare. Tonga, which issued many 'variety' stamps with strange shapes, are very desirable on actual letters and not on philatelic prepared items.

The value according to some catalogues is about $4,000/- including the Egypt issue. Realistic market value should be around $1,600/- without Egypt and about $650/- for the Egypt issue.

If the stamp has not been devalued by the country of issue, yes, for postage in that country. It is only going to be worth face value which could be a fraction of its actual value in a few cases.

In the US, the first 2 cent stamp was issued in 1867. The main rate for first class postage was 2 cents from 1885 through July 1932. There was a brief increase during World War 1. And prior to that the 2 cent rate was applied to the first half ounce of mail.

I think you are referring to Scott #1044A, which can be purchased for 50 cents mint and 15 cents used. Unused it is still worth 11 cents for postage.
