The value according to some catalogues is about $4,000/- including the Egypt issue. Realistic market value should be around $1,600/- without Egypt and about $650/- for the Egypt issue.

If the stamp has not been devalued by the country of issue, yes, for postage in that country. It is only going to be worth face value which could be a fraction of its actual value in a few cases.

In the US, the first 2 cent stamp was issued in 1867. The main rate for first class postage was 2 cents from 1885 through July 1932. There was a brief increase during World War 1. And prior to that the 2 cent rate was applied to the first half ounce of mail.

I think you are referring to Scott #1044A, which can be purchased for 50 cents mint and 15 cents used. Unused it is still worth 11 cents for postage.

That is Scott number US1897. It has a 15 value both new and used.

I believe you are referring to the Bobcat pictured on Scott US #2482. It has a good value unused, it can be purchased for $7.95, a dealer might pay a couple dollars for it.

This is a one-cent stamp that came out in 1986. Unused, it is still worth one cent, but a dealer would mark it up to make his profit- retail catalog value is 20 cents. I would give you one if you asked me nicely.

I am guessing you want to mail a letter to some foreign location from the US. If so, the rate is now 98 cents. You can buy a 98-cent stamp at a post office. If all you have is "forever" stamps with the liberty bell on them , you would have to use three and overpay since they are worth 44 cents each .

(10-cents stamps are also available at the post office and two 44-cent stamps plus a 10 give the exact amount. )

In 1990 the first class stamp was 25 cents. For a postcard it was 15 cents.

At that moment in time, you still lived in the days of the three cent letter. It did not raise the postage rate on First Class Mail until 1 August 1958. The First Class postage rate had been set at three cents during WW1, but had been reduced to two cents on 1 July 1919 by the US Congress and was not advanced to three cents again until 6 July 1932.

It may have value if you can find someone to buy it from you. A postage stamp has value, but not anything that you can demand. You can't hand one to a clerk in a store and they have to take it.

If you have 100 of them, soaked off in good condition, you call sell them for 50 cents, provided you have enough other stamps to sell to bring your total offering up to $50.00 and you pay the postage to get to NY. Some dealer might pay 1 cent each for them , if he needs them for his stocks, and you offer them for sale at auction and see what they will bring.

Not in the UK or the United States. You can use them even when the price has gone up after you bought them, as long as the face value adds up to the correct rate.

When they came out you could buy them retail for around 30$. Now I see people selling them for around 15$.

John F Kennedy stamps on a commercially produced First Day Covers of standard commemoratives like this are typically worth a dollar or two. But JFK is a popular subject and you may be able to get a few dollars more for it. A specialized catalog will list the value of a cachet or un-cacheted cover.

The UK didn't have a separate first and second class post until 1968. In 1961 it cost 2½d (that's 2½ old pennies - around 1p in modern money) to send a letter.

A small tear is OK. A big one may not as it may indicate that the cancellation mark has been cut off.

The postage rate changed in May 2009. It was raised from 42 cents to 44 cents on May 11th. The second ounce of postage remained at 17 cents..

There is a whole set of these in different colors and denominations and different portraits of Washington. The Scott numbers are 704-715. 2009 retail value for the setwas given as $21.55 mint and $2.70 used for very find copies. Most of the value in the mint case is in the 10 cent stamp which is valued at $10. In the used case, the 8-center at 50 cents is the only one worth more than the minimum.

Actually the price of the "Forever" stamp at the post office goes up to match the first-class rate, but you can still use the ones you paid 41 cents for and get 44 cents of postage for them.

1985 was the year that first class stamps went to 22 cents .
