Well, I used to be in the same position, but now I'm a superstar. I took five easy steps:
1. Say you'll use your own money
2. Ask for a giftcard for birthdays/christmas and claim that there isn't really anything else you want
3. Be like seriously good, at school and home
4. Dont go on about it for a while but then constantly go on about it for a week, then dont go on about it.. you get the idea
5. If its about security, tell them that if you use gift card, you have to put in no personal details at all
