Allison does strange things and lies to get attention oin the movie. She is obviously disturbed. She admits to being a compulsive liar. My ex wife suffered from delusional psychosis...a form of schizophrenia. Sheedy's character also says that her parents ignore her...that kind of abuse could have caused serious psychological damage to her.
