I would say that the best answer would be "sin". Essentially, Satan lives to lead people away from God by leading them to sin, thereby preventing them from going to Heaven.
Because people's sin prevent them from going to Heaven, God sent his son, Jesus, as a sacrifice to wipe away the sins of the world (John 3:16, among other verses) - all the person has to do is accept the gift of life and live as a disciple of Jesus, which is easy unless the person is still hanging onto their sin. Satan plays off of that, both creating other religions to lead people away from the truth and distorting the truth itself. Anything to drag as many people to hell with him as possible.
