Becoming a Werewolf also has the advantage of making your character immune to disease, thus preventing the contraction of the disease again

There are five types of elves in Skyrim:

1. High Elf (Altmer)

2. Dark Elf (Dunmer)

3. Wood Elf (Bosmer)

4. Snow Elf (Falmer)

5. Orcs (Orsimer).

All five races descend from the Aldmer, the original elvish race, there are a few other subtypes such as the Chimer, and more importantly, the Dwemer, but they do not appear in person.

The closest you get to a full answer is from the last living Dwemer, Yagrum Bagarn who can be found in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. After you give him a few Dwemer books, he concludes that the Dwemer chief architect Kagrenac somehow tied the Dwemer race's very essence to the Heart of Lorkhan, said to be the very heart of the god who created the world The Elder Scrolls takes place on.

During a battle against the Chimer, who moved to wipe out the Dwemer forever, Kagrenac tried to use his 'profane tools', Wraithguard, Keening and Sunder, on the heart, to animate a giant brass golem as a new god, Numidium. What happened was simulataneously, every Dwemer simply vanished from the face of Nirn, except Bagarn, who claims he was in 'the outer realms' at the time.

Whether the Dwemer were annihilated, or ascended, has not been revealed.

You don't need to buy Skyrim from Steam, but it does need to be linked to your Steam account (by registering the serial code you should have got with the game).

All of the Skyrim models (or models from games developed by Bethesda Studios in fact) are in the NIF format. To view them, you need to have the NifTools plugins for your 3D program. I only know of plugins for Maya, Blender and 3DS Max, but there may be one for GMax. Also, Skyrim uses a different NIF header that won't load into older tools. Rest assured that the Skyrim modding community is growing rapidly and people are always working on ways to edit every aspect of the game.

Skyrim is known for it's crashing, but not EVERY time. If you were being serious about it crashing every single time, possibilities are that your disk is scratched, you have currupted data, or you need to download an update.
