Real, as in the card game exists, yes, at least since it was invented in the early 80's. Real as in anything more than a game loosely based on the rumor and supposition based on a fictional group of boogiemen, then no.

None of "'em." Not a one. Not because producers or directors, screenwriters, or anyone else doesn't try to include them. Totally because the only symbol ever associated with the Illuminati before their destruction in 1785 was the Owl of Minerva (see the link below for an image).

No, the Illuminati is not an organization of actors or artists of any kind.

The Illuminati was an organization (1776-1785) of enlightened intellectuals whose goal was the overthrow of an oppressive monarchy. They were very unsuccessful in their endeavor because that monarch successfully destroyed the organization and imprisoned their leadership.

The only Illuminati that exists today is the invention of writers and bloggers who enjoy feeding the imaginations of paranoid and reality-challenged individuals who are unable to grasp real social issues.

Every society or group likes to invent their own ceremonies and symbols, especially groups such as the masons, or the legion, or the illuminati. Bakers and merchants found a useful number in 12 not only because it was useful for trade but also because it possessed certain 'clever' even mystical properties such as a large number of multiples: 1,2,3,4,6,12.

So when the illuminati were developing their own set of mystic symbols and numbers they hit upon 11 for much the same reasons as bakers did 12.

Some people believe a group of powerful people exists that has ties to the occult. They believe the group has influence over governments, media, and every aspect of society, and that they want to bring about a New World Order which they totally control. People who believe this group exists often refer to it as the Illuminati. Rumors persist that celebrities, politicians, and other people are members of the group, but while some may support some of the ideas and goals or be involved in the occult, they are not members of the Illuminati.

Frankly, this is difficult to answer. Here's why:

Back in 1776, a gentleman from Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany named Adam Weishaupt started up an organization. One of the names he gave this organization was the Order of Illuminati. Weishaupt strove to overthrow the oppressive monarchy and to end the control the Catholic Church had over the government. The problem came when the Church and monarchy became aware of Weishaupt and his agenda. The organization was disbanded, and Weishaupt ran away to another region where he died in 1830.

Since then, the Illuminati has been used as a boogeyman to scare the gullible and disenfranchised into believing the government (various governments) was out to kill them. The Illuminati have been accused of everything from starting the French Revolution to weather control to contact with and hiding extraterrestrials. Essentially any conspiracy theory can now fit neatly within the phantasmal tormentor of the Illuminati.

Now, with all that in mind, a number of organization have sprung up in recent years, many of which claim ancestry with the original Illuminati, but who cannot provide any even remotely conclusive evidence to support the claim. Many of these organizations seek membership fees and other funds from those seeking to become affiliated with an organization that promises success to its members. The only thing that those organizations I've found claiming connection to the Order of Illuminati are capable is separating the gullible from their money, and the only success they can guarantee is their own as long as people line up to give them money.

Seriously though, the Illuminati has not existed since the late 1700's, and even that short lived organization did little more than seek knowledge. Were you alive then, you likely would only have had to ask to join. If you have an actual application form, be wary of any "membership fees" as such is likely some form of scam that preys on the gullible.

Big Brother was the fictional dictator in Orwell"s l984. I seem to think he was portrayed as a rather benign, mild-mannered man, not too different from former Radio talk-jockey John Gambling. Gambling had an estimated audience-radio, of some 37 million listeners in his prime. That is more than speculative science writer Erich Von Daniken, and definitely something to think about. Gambling died some years ago.

No, Adam Lambert is not part of the illuminati. He is just a singer from San Diego who's dreams got a chance to come true because of his true talent. It's a shame some people believe that celebrities get success through illuminati. If Adam was illuminati he would've won American Idol, not Kris.
